Hi Andrew, you could bolt a blower on as I did, but it depends on the spec of your engine at present, especially the compression ratio. I used a 142 weiand running 5-7psi on my 406ci which had a C/Rof 9.5:1 IIRC, and never had a problem. The actual installation was so easy, and with the dollar the way it is, it's not a bad time to but from uncle sam. Most pro builders would try to get you to start afresh as there is only a small amount you can do before there are too many downfalls. What are you aiming for and what set up were you thinking of? The engine is from American speed, I dont know what the spec is, I know it's running a holley carb and 535bhp(apparently!!)what sort of power gain can I expect??? and are there any links to buying a kit??

If you want a 'kit' these guys in the states have 'twin screw' setups, not cheap, but they deliver better boost than a roots style blower..

If you look at the Holley website, just look thru the 'weiand' product lists, and you see the 142 'roots' type there.

Your carb should sit happily on top of the blower, although you'll have to play with the mixture and timing a bit...

One of the guys with a Canam installed his own centrifugal type blower, but he also had to convert to fuel injection I think...

for supercarged it is best to go without a carb

so fuel injection is needed

knock sensing may be a good investment

That will be me then!

Hi Dilley, I have a D1-SC Procharger bolted to my 383 SBC. This was not an easy fit in a Can-Am as I had to modify the bulkhead. The Procharger works very well in a blow-through-carb set-up. It would be very easy to fit in a GTR as there is much more room above the engine. I run the Holley Commander MPFI system with my procharger. The kit will cost about £2,500. If you want to add a chargecooler or intercooler that's going to increase the cost. The amount of boost you can add will depend on your static compression ratio. There is some good info on the Procharger website www.procharger.com . You see my set-up on my website at www.v8yes.co.uk

Send me a mail for my phone number if you want to chat about it.

Regards Dave

Still think you need to know your C/R to know if you can add much boost for added oomph! FI is certainly a great idea but it is beyond my limited capabilities, hence my choice of an old fashioned carb+blower. Easy to do and play with, giving an amazing increase in power thro' low and mid range, lost a bit due to a non-blower cam but that could easily have been changed. Decide how you want to do the changes, whether it's quick and by yourself or slower and probably with others but achieving the FI excellence

I had an AS Supercharged .383 in my GTR with a Weiand 177 roots blower. It made 630hp. Best bet is to speak to Gail as he'll know what's inside your current engine and can advise upgrades accordingly.

I have just spoken to Gayle, I think I would need to send my engine back as it would need new pistons, for all engine mods, a super charger, modified carb and fully dyno'd he has quoted about $4500 plus shipping each way, sound good???? should be able to make about 670bhp, any opinions or different ideas??

Dilley.

That is very cheap for what would be required, and with exchange rates probably difficult to beat over here. A new 177 blower is nearly $2k, plus forged pistons/crank, from a reputable company that's got to be good value.
