Jason,
why the big rush? You haven't even ordered the first stages yet. If you are prepared to have a melt down at this early stage maybe you should ask yourself if this project is really for you?
not really in a rush i expect it all to take 4 years approx - and i've waited 4/5 years to get this far (financial), just want to know exactly what i am about to get myself involved with before i blow 20k to get started and realise it was a bad calculation or not researched enough, the comment i made above was merely down to how i would l;ove to have a GTR now - isnt that like most people, they would rather have something now instead of waiting 4 years for it even if it would be a better one to wait forwhy the big rush? You haven't even ordered the first stages yet. If you are prepared to have a melt down at this early stage maybe you should ask yourself if this project is really for you?

Don't want to be a worry wort but are you sure that will fitt ?? That looks like alot bigger blower than has been fitted before to any GTR.... Whats the overall lenght of the engine now ???
Clive, SSS is on the case isn't he?, of course it will fit ( now! )Oh yeah, I almost forgot 'worry wort'? For Christ sake don't say that type of thing when you get to Canada will you, after all, it is going to be a big enough culture shock for them as is so giving them more ammunition with which to burn you at the stake can not be wise surely

Clive, I seriously hope you're wrong about the height but I can't measure it just yet. I've looked at pics of other SBCs with blowers on and I think my setup is no higher and hopefully lower. The air cleaner is also thinner than most as the engine is running a dual carb arrangement. If the worst comes to the worst then I'll have to see if Wayne's got a spare one of those jet intakes from the GTW that he could lend me. Does anyone have a measurement of clearance from the top of the engine deck to the underside of the clip when it is closed? I've thought about cutting the lowest rail out and dropping the engine mounts an inch but that is a bit severe at the moment. I'll post more pics of the "squeeze-in" as it goes along.
Here's a quick vid of the engine on the test bedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaO3731VULY
"only" a 6-71 blower with a 3" belt. Tomorrow is the first attempt to squeeze it in, and the firewall has been modified to accomodate the length, just the height to worry about. Wheels are from Image, thought the design was the best on their website, but have seen others since that suit the ultima better, just a matter of taste I suppose.

Glad to see you making progress! Should be the biggest, baddest Ultima north of the border...
