Spent a week in the S and quite eventful, lost the use of the fan, fixed a broken connector, lost number plate light, dashboard illumination, r/h side and tail light, fixed that, blown fuse. All ok now, run over a rat and this morning a crow hit my wing mirror dislodging the glass, fixed that too. The run home from Salisbury to South Wales was great, I reckon my grin is bigger than ever yes even the cop that followed me for some time on the M4 had a smile on his face.

what a week indeed! monday I took mine into Hexham and 200 yds before I got home a hose burst and I lost most of the coolant. replaced hose before the missus got in from work and we went for a run over Hartside Pass to Melmerby for a tea and scone (she knew nothing of the hose) then took the car to work (Huddersfield) on wednesday morning, had a run up and down Snake Pass vis Woodhead Pass on wednesday night before returning home on thursday evening via Stanhope and Allendale - Great!!!
Temp OK but oil pressure confusing... bang on 50 PSI when up and down the gears 25 on tickover, but droning along the A1/M1 at a steady 70-80 it varied between 40 and a worrying 30'ish could not see why it went up and down. maybe even at that speed it was only doing around 3000 prm ??? I think my oil is too thin too...

just love it !

Mine does similar, I've just stopped looking at the gauge now and nothings gone, as a matter of fact it did it all the way down to London in November

The varying oil pressure seems to be familiar to me. I went round Scotland a couple of years ago with it going up and down in all sorts of strange ways that didn't make any sense (eg - rev the engine and it went down at one stage!). Anyway I assumed it was all OK and got a new sender unit when I got home and all was fixed - that lasted for a couple of months and then it started reading lower all the time and also taking 30 secs to move at all on start up (very disconcerting!!) - all down to a faulty sender which was duly replaced under warranty. The saving grace is they are easy to replace! I now use Millers 10/60 oil and it is very good with excellent pressure and it is very temperature tolerant - the cats are about to come off (they are on order and should be here in about a week or so) so that should cool it down a bit and make it better ... smile

Millers 10/60 ? is that synthetic, or semi synthetic Jim ? I was thinking of changing my oil to something thicker and have used Millers for a number of years now but have not seen 10/60...

Millers CFS 10/60 is a fully synthetic oil. Now using this in my V8S since its last service whereas previously it had been on Mobil 1 15/50.

Certainly seems to be an improvement on both oil pressure and (slightly) on consumption
