New rear tyres

Just had service and MOT done and the MOT has flagged up my rear tyres as needing replacement. What would be the most recomended tyre?

Bridgestone RE720 just had a new set fitted, superb all year round tyre, copes well in the wet and when it gets slippery, brilliant in the dry. Each to their own the Toyo and Goodyear Eagle devotees will be along soon, just steer clear of Pirelli P6000 they are absolute sh_te.

Sorry to say but i think the RE720 are now extinct I've been searching for old stock for awhile now and no luck. Bridgestone have replaced the RE720 with the Turanza ER300 but I have no feedback as to how they perform on an S.

Dunlop Sport SP01...on mine and very good

When I bought my S the handling was vague to say the least. New Avo's helped a lot, 4 wheel alignment helped a lot, rose jointed ARB links didn't seem to do much. At least by then it was reasonable - but not to the point where I could chuck it around with confidence.
Then I changed the P6000's for Bridgestone RE 720's - what a transformation! It now handles like a dream. (The ARB links are probably adding to the package now that the crappy tyres have gone)
I got the Bridgestones fitted in March this year so they are still available if you hunt them down

Well I couldnt find any in Northampton 6 weeks ago. So replaced my fronts with Nexon`s. Seem ok. Dont seem very different from the Bridgestones imo !
£95 the pair. Fitted !

I have seen some Dunlop Sport 01 here -> LINK

£63.90 incl VAT and fitting (good price?) and it looks like they come to you to fit them. Has anyone used eTyres.co.uk before?

Looking at the tread patterns the Sport 01 looks quite similar to the ER300 but are only £6 per tyre cheaper. Not sure which to go for. Given that the SP01 has been recommended I might go for those unless someone else has anything more to say?

Just out of interest, what is the standard/reccommended tyre size?

I assume it's 205/60R15V as that's whats always been fitted to mine.

just had michelin pilots fitted all round as apposed to bridgestone, for an s1 it handles really well

Just had some ER300's fitted but not had chance to test them out yet. I'll let you know what I think.

Yus..! I'm interested too...I have one very good RE71 on the back and one that is almost illegal. I tried sourcing another RE71 but no luck...don't really wanna' mix 'em either...so it'll be two replacements...

Might try a few handbrake turns before I change 'em though...

Haven't had chance to get out in the car yet I'll be doing so this weekend though and the new tyres will deffo get a good testing on Monday when I shall be blasting up the Dragstrip at York

if your taking it up the strip, you wont find a better tyre than the toyo 888 it is a moulded slick but road legal. we fitted a pair to the wifes RS turbo which in the past has only run in the mid 14s (with n/ox) just by getting traction from the 888s she now runs very low 13s. they are also superb for trackday use.
