After a blaze of publicity last year surrounding the build of a prototype I've heard nothing more about the Delfino Feroce.......has anybody else? Are they in production. Has anybody ordered one?

Having Spoken to Allard Marx only yesterday, I can confirm that things are moving along nicely

To quote him:

"I have driven the prototype 25,000 miles. Nothing fell off. It still drives like a dream. A good start. The car is now on one of the games being launched by Microsoft concurrently with the Xbox. The video clip at the bottom of their screen is of the Feroce driving through London.
www.xbox.com/games/racing/project-gotham.htm

"001 of the production version is being manufactured as we speak. We have spent the last year agreeing parts lists with our key supplier and have a heads of agreement.

"We would like to start taking pre-orders, or queue positions, in the near future and then firm up orders with the 001 once it is complete.

"Realistically, deliveries are expected late 2002 at the earliest.

"The prototype provides a drive experience that brings grins to faces and shakes to hands and it represents about 80% of the production car."

The website is www.delfino.co.uk and if you want to contact Allard, I'll forward email addresses to him

Just remind me - this is the "cut & shut" job on the Impreza WRX STi chassis and running gear with a GRP convertible body on it, isn't it?

I didn't realise the project was still alive. I wish 'em all the luck in the world, even if "ferocious dolphin" is a truly bizarre name for a car.

The prototype used Impreza bits, but the production vehicle probably won't. You should check out the website to see the quality of the work going into the car. It's a lot more than a bit of bodywork on a chopped STi! Incidentally, what do people here think of the idea of a soft top with the power of a Tiv that actually handles in the wet?

Well I drove one early last year sometime, and apart from looking extremely cool (IMO) it was probably the fastest thing I have EVER driven from a 'point to point' perspective...and Ive driven LOTS of fast things...

Absolutely superb in my opinion...oh and it sounded like a jet fighter

JonRB,

I know that you put a smiley on your last post - but maybe you are being a little too harsh IMHO.

Would be good to have another small scale british manufacturer on the scene....

Admittedly the name cracks me up!?!?

Sorry - I didn't mean to sound harsh. No offense was intended and the smiley was very much there for a reason.

I genuinely do wish them all the best!

I actually think it's pitched a bit high at £55k. Originally they were looking at a target price of c.£38k (I think, judging by the reviews then)which I believe is more realistic, but I'll keep you posted to see what price they're currently looking at... maybe somewhere in the middle?

Bruce,

Can I post pics of the designs I produced from Andy's sketches?

Hi James

I don't know if you can on this forum, but I'm sure we'd all be fascinated to see them. Does anyone know how to do this? Failing that, I'd love to see them - can you email them to me offline?

Hi All,

Bruce was kind enough to alert me to the dialogue on Delfino Feroce.

Nightmare good to hear you again and thanks for your continued support. I hope to be able to hand you over some keys before too long!

Bruce's quote is accureate. I have nothing much to add but appreciate your interest.

We hope to announce more before too long.

Best regards,
