oil change after first 1000 miles?
Discussion
blackspider where are you..?!
i don't believe the penta engined MINI (i.e. the r53) needs a 1000 mile oil change.
(oh god i hope not. i hope i don't get into some horrible warranty argument!)
a lot of people do it (it uses bmw longlife oil btw) but you don't need to from a BMWpoint of view.
as it happens though keep a real close eye on initial consumption. mine took a fair bit at first and now hardly needs a top-up. i think this is why people do a 'running in' oil change. although my oil was still (surprisingly) goldenish even at the first service (partially down to putting a fair bit of new oil in up to 5k miles i guess..).
if you google it there's a MINI2.com article on this..but i can't access it at work
