New Member has heard of Joe Public being able to drive on the track. Does anyone know how and when?

Friday afternoon (I think) you can't hoon around the whole circuit, just most of the public road parts,

yep - Mulsanne is a "real road", turn right up at the top etc etc. The only bit you can't is when it flicks back into the Bugatti circuit.

Look on www.clubarnage.com (it's been revamped and swanky now) for the different maps

As a matter of interest the run-off areas on each side of the track at Indianapolis, become a huge car-park for the Brits on the Friday.... perhaps a PH meeting point?

A few of us TVR "BIG WEDGE" brigade are planning a gathering at 10.00 on the friday morning along this section. Bring yer camera!
I think, if enough of us turn up, we may call it "Operation Rolling Thunder!"

Thanks for that. Problem is, do I watch the drivers parade in town or go for the track? Answers on a postcard please!

I know it means not drinking (not an option for some!) but last year a few of us who were still sober went for a drive at around 2am on Friday night/Sat morning. The road sections of the track were still open and there wasn't another car to be seen!

We did one "lap" around the circuit to be sure there were no Gendarmeries hiding, and then went hooning round the second time, down the Mulsanne and through the few corners after...

Was a laugh - and made some good footage on the camcorder!

Friday morning is the time to drive down the Mulsanne Straight and around the public parts of the track.

Starts to get closed on Friday afternoon in preparation for the race.

yep, you can drive from tetre rouge down the mulsanne (though you have to use the roundabouts) then through mulsanne bend, down through indianapolis and arnage then up to the porsche curves...

you then go down the old circuit through maison blanche into the campsite...

went through indianapolis last year with a mate driving in his (pink) audi and he lost the backend and almost put it in the gravel!!!

i think i would have joined the thousands of fans parked at arnage in laughing at him as he tried to dig it out!!!
