I know, I know...the purist's will scorn me!

I've read over the past few months on this forum and in the Porsche related monthly press, the pro's (mostly) & con's of up dating an SC or 3.2 to early 70's RS/RSR specification. Indeed, Andrew Frankel & Chris Harris of GTPP seem to wax lyrical about such motor's.....driving

It's an itch that I seem to want to scratch....I'm not looking for any form of investment potential per se...only the visual stimulation and driving pleasure (90%) of the orginal which it seeks to replicate....idea

My question is...has anyone gone down this route and seen it to fruitition or has looked at the costs and suppliers involved in the replica parts? Can anybody give me any insight or hints into going down this path? scratchchin

I drove the orange 3.0 RSR replica at Paul Stephens about 18 months ago and was very nearly tempted to buy it....shame I didn't; it drove beautifully and was thoroughly intoxicating! biglaugh

I can vouch for the 964 most wholeheartedly....brilliant car; not driven a 993 GT2...though to quote GTPP 3.0 RSR & 993 GT2 - "Even to this day it makes any modern day, fast Porsche - including the big-hipped 993 GT2 - look somewhat undernourished in the botty department!" hehe

Autofarm build this type of replica to your specification. I've driven a couple in different tunes and in all honesty they are great! They offer 95% of the original feel with about 70% of the benifits of a new car. OK, they dont have PAS, ABS or other modern requirements but they do take you back to real Porsche driving. I would give them a ring.
Just to be clear, Josh is a good friend but I have no other affiliation with the company. Go there, drive them and make up your mind. Afterall, it's your feelings that count!
Cheers,

Richard.

Chris Harris's project has got me thinking about this. I would like a nice wide-assed 70s racer replica 911, in silver with Martini livery. Would that be an RSR of some kind? I am looking forward to seeing Harris's car when it has finished. I bet it comes in miles over budget. These things always do!

Speaking of Harris, have a look at what he drove recently. 0-100-0 mph in 6 seconds and faster around Donington and Cadwell than an F3 car!!

the back lights spoil it a bit and the front wheels are a touch wide but apart from that it looks pretty swish.
