Having had my 996TT for a month now, to be honest I'm a little taken back that I feel the need for more power.. Coming from a C4 I thought it'd be a huge step, but to be honest its not as big as I thought.. Admittedly I've had a few MAF failures and a boost valve(why oh why do 100k cars have £15 parts that break!), but now they're fixed its still not quite there. The car is stock, tuning routes seem to be exhaust (E/pipe, Tubi, Fabspeed, or even DesignTek's bargain!?) Before this, ecu changes seem to be popular for quick fix, then diverter's, hoses etc.. My main concern is the OPC warranty, ok most ecu flashing now claim to be undetectable, but is it?...

Also it def. feels duller than c4, not sure why, maybe extra weight?.. I seem to remember a quote from someone (kayc?) about driving the 'slower' car that bit harder gives the impression of more fun/speed...

Anyway, thoughts appreciated....

PS Kof with any shoulda got a gt3 gumphf , I need rear seats...

I loved my tt(not that anyone noticed)however when it does become normal or you have become used to the power(which happens with any car)i would 100% recommend a DMS chip upgrade..it transforms the 996tt into a fairly wild thing to drive and certainly not boring as the power delivery is so much quicker and stronger.I think one of the Porsche mags this month tested the DMS 997tt and were in awe of the performance.I had my tt upgraded for 15 months without a hiccup at all,no extra lag, no extra fuel consumption etc..and more importantly it was great fun.I had 2 services during the DMS era and the OPc never mentioned the chip..having said that the geezer who test drove it looked a liitle shocked when he saw the boost gauge hit 0.9 bar...

.9, oh for .9, mine lucky, and I mean lucky if it get to .7, 99% is .6

Having looked around @ ecu stuff I see that it can be done on handheld with 2 or 3 programs, flash in 15secs !!.. Very tempting, UK guys seem to be charging £2k for this where as US is nearly half that, I'm just checking with one now about the fuel types as they tend to use low RON's over there.. Not sure about 'integration' though, I know most is overlayed on ECU with no further tuning necessary, almost to easy, I still remember tuning twin 40's

I've also gone from a C4 to a 996tt albeit with a year gap in between but the tt still scares the sh*t out of me and all passengers. I've got used to the power but can't imagine ever needing any more. After all I do live in the clogged up traffic of the South East! Had a short shift put on last week and it's fantastic

I've had my 996tt for two weeks and I'm already fancying just a little more. Think I'll be sampling the free 5 hour REVO remap. As I understand it, the REVO is undetectable whereas the DMS trips the reflash count in the ECU meaning OPC can tell it's been tampered with.

Maybe if there's enough of us interested, we can get a group buy going and get a cheaper price?

Allen@W/meister seems to be offering a reasonable price, US ones can also appear amazing value, but remem. they don't often program for 98/99rons , but I'm sure they have a made for the UK...

It's probably all those old computers you're carrying around on the back seats that are slowing you down! BTW: We used to have offices in Copdock!

EVO - it's the standard Porche part. Had it done at Colchester OPC for £447.90. The part itself is £237 +VAT

Lol, you gest, but I've had 8 (boxed) 19" TFT in my porca before, who's says they aren't practical :-)

Where were your offices?

Surely that's your problem then. What boost level should a standard 996TT run at? 0.6 bar seems very low

0.6, sometimes 0.7 is normal for a standard car.

In a 'its right, but wrong' kinda way, yes boost is limited to .6/.7 on stock motors ...

I'm talking to a few tuners on the options at the mo...

My car is running an aggressive map and hits 1.1 sometimes 1.2.

When you say aggressive, do you mean your power curves are steep?

Aggressive in terms of boost, timing, fuel mixture. But it is mapped for a track, not really for everyday use.

Were about halfway down old london road (old dual carriageway / racetrack(!)), in a build that use to be an old pub (Eight elms). Now up for sale I believe. We left there about 5/6 years ago.
