Argh ranting

Went to buy fuel today. £60 of of Super for the old girl.

As I am filling up, a beaten up Vauxhall pulls up with four fat lads of a certain demographic in it. Hoodies, attitiude.

The fattest of them gets out and fills the car up, he then gets back in the car and DRIVES OFF. I decide that's bang out of order so I clock the plate. It's obviously a fake, with one too many digits.

I go into the shop, tell the bloke they've been robbed.

He calls the cops. Third one today, apparently......

Half an hour later the cops turn up. They review the tape and apparently there's nothing they can do 'cos the plate's fake. And you can't see the fat thieving cvnt's face.

They than ask me if the 911 is mine, and run some sort of check on my and my licence yikes They seem surprised that I can recite my driver number off by heart.....

So, lesson here I think is

1. Apply false plates, so you don't have to worry about speed cameras or any of that old rubbish.

2. Don't bother paying for fuel

3. Don't bother reporting a crime because the police will take an unhealthy interest in your car, your insurance, your licence and your MOT and the amount of tread on your (brand new) PZeros, even if you're daft enough to keep things "just so" and play it with a straight bat and pay insurance and tax etc to the tune of a few grand a year.

I am off for a beer.

What's the point.

it all seemed to go well untill you mentioned they started poking round your car.

did the bib really think that after you had reported this crime, that if you had no insurance, no tax, all 4 tyres shot, you would stick around to get caught? i hope you asked thm why they where wasting your time?

It's happened before. Someone drove up the back of me at some lights in a sh1t Mondeo a few months ago - no damage to my car but......

I went to Hounslow Police station to report it (in case it was a scam to get money off my insurance) so I had a record of what happened straight away (i.e. I DID NOT REVERSE INTO HIM!!)

They gave ME a producer yikes WTF...............

And I had to spend three hours the following Saturday queueing up at my local nick with the junkies to present my full set of immaculate documents, to be told "well, sir, with a car like that we always like to make sure that it's not linked to any criminal activity........"

ranting

I am rapidly losing faith in the police. What's the point of being honest any more?

Soov, I was in a petrol station some weeks ago and an asian gentleman drove into me crushing my leg between the front of his Toyota and the rear of the Audi I was in...........he then drove off.......I got his reg number and rang the police. In the meantime lower leg has swollen up to twice its normal size and is purple.

Police arrive at my office an hour later, take a statement, then give me a producer!!!!!!!! WTF

They go to the chaps house and he tells them he sold the car two weeks earlier and gives a name and address to the police, police check it and its false. End of "investigation", didnt arrest him for questioning anything.......I have nerve damage in lower leg, he is pissing himself laughing at both me and the police.!!

Message for Paracetomol....Before you go off on one, those are the facts, he was asian, and no I am not racist. Thanks.

I fully understand why people turn a blind eye these days, it is getting easier and easier to be a criminal, the police are so worried they will be up for harrasment or breaching a srotes human rights, they let them get on with it.

Well next time I won't bother.

All the thanks I got was a full grilling from a fat copper for daring to have a decent motor.

I know a few coppers, and most are great, but this idiot was a disgrace.

Is there some sort of policy now that if a person reports a crime they get a producer??

Granny and eggs time but if you feel as if you were badly treated why not complain to, well, not sure how it works tbh, but whoever you get if you go to the local Police Station and say "I'd like to speak to somebody in charge"?

There are some things you just should'nt admit to on a public forum like this biglaugh.....

Shocking performance by plod.... we badly need people (both the Police and locals) who know and take an interest in their local patch. This sort of outcome, however isolated, doesn't help

Why not post on SP&L and see if any of the Bibs can shine any light on this. Perhaps, it is standard practice.

On a related note, I got pulled for speeding in my 911 recently. The Bib were astounded that i had insurance in place, car was registered to my own address and I was who I was claiming to be. They kept asking repeatedly about my name, address etc. Their incredulity was however exceeded by the desk Sargeant, when I turned up at the station to hand in my own license to have the points added. It certainly appears honest motorists are becoming a rarity.

I used to be of the 'have a go persuasion' and was involved some years ago in apprehending and detaining a car thief. I don't think I would do it today.

It's simple. They got to the garage, realised they couldn't make an easy arrest, so now they are in a panic because they needed to find at least 3 more crimes before the end of their shift or they'll miss their target for the week. So, sniff, sniff, sniff...

I've completely lost respect for the law since an incident a couple of years ago (won't go into details here) my GF was falsely accused of something she didn't do, was arrested, taken to the nick on a Friday night, interviewed and then bailed for several weeks while they decided what they would do to her. We got a brief lined up and although we knew there was no case to answer she had to wait to see what their decision was. When she eventually went back to the police station, they had mysteriously lost all the details of the arrest and just sent her on her way!!!!! A complete waste of police time, public money and a demonstration of their incompetence and under-handed methods.

We are not inclined to cooperate in any way with the police now and I will use all my rights to ensure that they have a very difficult time doing their job if they ever want anything out of me in the future.

Although I know we can't say they are all bad, I do think there is a general feeling that 'discretion' isn't in their dictionary.
