If you can get an OPC to take your deposit against a GT2 then post.
In UK they are only accepting letters of interest or deposits against GT3 / TT with the promise that deposits will be flip-flopped when the car becomes official. September for Frankfurt Show seems best guess for launch with peeps who have filed 'letters' being informed in advance of that date.
As always, there will be cars available on the grey market at plus, plus.

Seconded - letters of intent etc. only. I'm no.1 car at my dealer and they won't take a deposit. Can't say it bothers me. Rather in my account than theirs!

They are holding my deposit - but only because I binned my 997TT.

My OPC got details of their 08 allocation yesterday - guess what - NO sign of 997GT2 ???? Bizzare - as everyone thought it was going to be announced with 997TT Cabriolet??

This suggests to me that it MIGHT be the first of the facelift cars??

There was talk of a "facelift" for 08 - but I now suspect that we won't see that until geneva 08?

As for GT2 - well many people were expecting that to be announcec imminently for build from September onwards (as 08 models) - but NOW?...I'm not sure - I think we might not see GT2 until well into 08 now?

530 sounds a bit lame these days doens't it?? laugh

I was kinda hoping for 550 minimum (maybe with 580 on "overboost"!)

I am sure 600+ will be easliy achievable with a day at RUF or somewhere!

I do think that Porsche are at risk of missing an opprtunity here though - the GT2 should be a dynamic and technical tour-de-force - it SHOULD have the first PDK installation and significantly more HP than anything else in it's market.

As an aside - the other scuttlebutt I've heard is that the "new" GT2 is faster round the ring that the CGT??? :gulp:

The variable vane turbos should ensure a smoother delivery of torque, will be interesting to see a dyno plot.. (anyone dyno'd a 997TT yet?)
Think a good map would certainly bring out the best of the turbos.

Would think that as it is the flagship road car, standard suspension setup will be soft and compliant (nothing an aftermarket set of shocks won't sort out)

Will be interesting to see what they peg the weight at!?

Well this is what "CAR" are saying:

-£120k

-Spring 08 deliveries

-100 Kilos lighter than 997TT

the 599 Ferrari is 362bhp per tonne

It also said porsche are saving weight by ditching the Aircon !!!!

Yeah,

Thats why I think it needs at least 550 BHP (and I suspect Porsche know this) - to beat the 599's Power to weight ratio.

I therefore think Porsche will relealse it with more than 525.

I spoke to a Porsche engineer at the 997TT launch and he intimated that they could get 530hp from the 997TT engine (as that is what the forthcoming X50 kit will give) - so I'd expect more from the GT2
