www.Dragracedr88.nl is now official online and we need your help!

This site is in Dutch and English just hit the Union Jack with your mouse, here some more information;

Holland is a small country, we have only one semi-dragstrip.
That strip is located in Drachten, in the northern part of Holland. It's normally in use as a local airport for business and hobby planes.
As you may know, last year the City Council and Major of Drachten gave a company the assignment to remove the rubber layer of the Airstrip. This was done 3 days before the third and last event of the year. The company used chemicals that disintegrated the tarmac and destroyed the surface of the strip. This resulted in a major defect to the surface and the race had to be cancelled unfortunately.
After this major mistake, dragraceclub Explosion filed a complaint to the City Council and the Major. These two are not on speaking terms anymore, at least not in a public way. Now a group of fans/volunteers has put in a sort of "people-request" at the City Council, that they can not ignore if there are enough votes to go with it.

So we need you to vote! Please help us!!!

The site is owned, and run by volunteers and people who love the sport!
All is payed for by privateers and corporate sponsors.

Do not let Dutch Dragracing die, please...

For everybody who is interested;

The protestcampagne came through! Races at Drachten will be back!
The Mayor was mandated by the City Council that the races must return this year (thanks to the protests)
and now a plan is made for (quarter mile) new tracksurface, stagelanes and a returnroad.
If this will be ready on such a short term remains to be seen,
but we can be sure of it that Drachten will be back on the agenda for next year (and 5 to 7 years after that)
The dates in september are just set to speed things up

Thanks to everybody that has voted !

Will there be enough of a shutoff area to allow the faster cars to run the full quarter mile, or are they still going to be restricted to the eighth?

There already was enough room for...6 second cars-ish....so im guessing there will be enough when they re-do it, they would have to move the starting line backwards though, as there is some ice track thingy at the end of the run-off at the moment...

im looking forward to see it back!

As it looks right now, things that where allways a problem due to stupid rules can now be fixed.
There is room for lengtening the strip and I hope that it will happen.

Last year the fastest Super Pro cars managed new PB's on Drachten (it's below sealevel)
It can get only better, if there's more news I will post it here.
