Remote indicators

I have decided to try and put some remote indicators on the steering wheel, just been to Deamon Tweeks today and ordered the 2 x steering wheel buttons but not sure where to go from here. I have been in touch with RF Solutions and I am led to believe that you dismantle a remote key fob and attach it to the backside of the steering wheel, solder it to the buttons, then the reciever is wired up to the indicators behind the dash, am I on the right track ? Can anybody fill in the blanks please, Cheers.

You don't need to leave the keyfob dismantled, just take it apart, run some fly leads to it and put it ack together. On the GTR, mine was mounted on the back of the lower central spoke of the steering wheel. Almost impossible to get it in the void behind the horn button (and no need to either).

I got my keyfob/receiver for my remote horn from RF Solutions, they will even solder the wires for you if you ask nicely. Working fine nearly a year down the road (that's done it).

i got mine from maplins and even though the car isnt on the road i can tell you they have been used quite a bit and still working fine - soldered myself, wouldnt even bothering asking maplin people.

I have one of these, I didn't use it as I fitted stalks in the end. I think Wayne has got this in his Ult.

thats what i have to control my indicators as well. be aware though that the hazard lights have to work from a dedicated switch (sva). but simple enough you just wire in the inputs to the controller in parralell to the indicator control.

Not sure about the SVA rquirements but here is my set up....similar to what you're talking about.....and has been working great for 5000 miles

Brad it appears you only have one wire to each pad on the remote am I assuming that is right, I have bought a set up today and am baffled by it all, I thought it would be one each side as I have two terminals on each button, any possible chance of a wiring diagram of such, cheers.

which set up did you buy, you will probably have to bypass the switches on the fob(if it is that type) and run the wires to each side of the steering wheel buttons, unless the fob switches just connect to an earth in which case 1 wire will run to one side of the steering switch and the other side can run to the metal frame. any help?

I bought the Quasar UK with the 3 switch transmitter just in case I do the horn as well, but wondering how to wire the key fob, its so small in there, and what do I solder the fly wires to ? anybody got any pictures or a diagram cheers.

Yo Dave thanks, but I have bitten the bullet and hey presto have fitted the steering wheel bit, with the remote transmitter, and the buttons all work great, press a button on the steering wheel and the light works on the remote transmitter so it must be sending a signal to the reciever, but its the wiring of this that I could do with a diagram, as you guys know the indicator toggle switch is, up for left down for right with just 3 wires feeding it, do I wire from this to the reciever or from the relay, any help with a diagram would be much apreciated cheers.

I talked to Mike (my builder) and he can help but he'd need some wiring diagrams from you first. He'd need the diagram from your remote system and how you have wired the remote. Also, was your car wired per the factory diagram....standard in other words?

Hi Brad please find a couple of photos I think it is the standard Ultima wiring loom that is used, I connected a wire from each side of the button on the steering wheel, and soldered it to either side of the button on the key fob (internal) if you take off the wheel and press the button you can see the red led light up on the key fob, so I know it is transmitting a signal (works ok)What I am concerned about, is how to wire up the indicators to the reciever. There is a toggle switch with 3 connectors, top, middle, bottom, flick it up, the left indicator is on, back to middle is off, and flick it down the right indicator is on, do I take these to the the reciever box ??? http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t79/little-red-...
