Hi,

Recently had the front brakes changed over on the front of my car due to them being pretty much metal to metal.

Anyway, ended up having the brakes done (discs and plates) with a backstreet mechanic, and well....

Since I've had the brakes done there has been this knocking noise each time I brake, it only happens when going slow though, EG, if pulling up at traffic lights slowly or creeping behind traffic, the knocking is from the front left. I have never noticed this before hand, but I am not sure whether it is the brakes. It only seems to happen after about 10-15 minutes after driving. I noticed that there looks like a leak, however it isn't seeming to get worse, theres a wet patch underneath the engine where the driveshaft is, very spread out, not especially around a certain point.

The knocking noise seems to happen after every turn of the wheel but only seems to get slightly worse each week, but it is loud, ive seen people looking at the wheel as I stop, which was quite embarrising, feel like im driving an old Nova.

Anyone have any idea what it could be or how I could test it, had the wheel spinning on the ground when the engine is cold doesn't seem to make a noise.

Things I think it could be are:-

Driveshaft
Bearings
Caliper Loose
Warped disk
Driveshaft Seals

Any ideas or help much appreciated BTW the cars a Saxo VTR 2002

Sounds like the oil seal on the final drive case (ie. where the driveshaft exits) is leaking.
