ECU Upgrade ?? 2003 996 TT

Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction as far as ECU'S go. I've seem the Evo upgrade which looks fine but I would rather keep the OEM ECU and buy a separate upgraded unit, so I can switch back if anything go's wrong - I discovered one on the FVD site this morning, basically wondering which is the better unit??
