The TVR S at david gerald thoughts?

Hi Guys
As some of you know i am new here and looking for an S.
I managed to get to look at this one today ar David Geralds and wondered what you lot may think of it as an exmaple of what you get for your money? its 9.5 K and while i could be well of the mark thought it was a little over priced.
Body had some chips as seems the norm, and interior a few scuffs and tears, but nothing major.
It looks alot better in the flesh than the picture, and i did get on my knees breifly and look at the out riggers which seemsed ok, but im not really sure what iwa slooking for! I also noticed the rear wheel seems to sit towards teh back of the arch? about an inch at most of the arch but closer to 2 at the front? is ths normal?

Your link does not work but I have had a look at their website and assume it is the grey one in which case and this is only my opinion it is top money for a V8S and for me it would have to be absolutely top condition i.e. you mentioned tears in the interior and I would not put up with that at that money - but if you do decide to pursue then get someone who knows about S's to take a look for you - I am not saying there is anything wrong with it but you are contemplating spending a lot of cash so a good check over for circa £150 could save you alot in the long run.

The one for sale at davidgeraldtvr is the 4 ltr V8 type and the price is not (IMHO) out of the ordinairy. The "usual" S has a 2.8 v6 and more common the 2.9 v6.
The S you are looking at is a beaffy mother@#$$#r. Check other posts for pro's and con's of the three types. (I have a 2.9 but wouldn't mind owning a v8 :-)

Got my V8S from David Gerald some 14 month ago, had some minor works done by them. To press she as run fine with no problems. they did replace the wood on the dash which let the interior down so i'am sure something could be 'negociated' on the trim side. Chips are to be expected-good luck with your search.
I saw this a few weeks back when, IIRC, the price was £500 higher. I was with my brother viewing the Green Griff which they are showing now as sold (he bought it).
The salesman was very keen that he consider the V8S over the Griff but gave it up when he realised I'd parked mine outside. I have to admit that I was a bit worried driving up there knowing that they had a "mint" V8S and thinking that I might leave regretting having bought the one that I did (in October).
I did get a chance to have a good poke around it whilst they were out on the Griff test drive and, IMHO, it's A LOT of money for the car (fortunately for me....). It looks like it's had the dash, wheels and some other cosmetics done but nevertheless it seemed to be a bit scruffy to me (small split in the bonnet paintwork conveniently hidden under the price tag...) and was starting to show its age and mileage.
I did have a quick look underneath and, although I can't remember exactly what it was like, it certainly wasn't "take my breath away" in condition in the way that some of the better ones are. IIRC it needs a good paint/waxoil- not sure though.
You do get the benefit of the specialist experience however and there is some come-back if it all goes pear shaped, so, if you're intent on buying from the trade I wouldn't discount it completely. DB certainly seems very pleased with the service he's received.
However, if you're willing to buy privately, the Mica Blue one (yes, I'm biased) for the same money in classifieds seems a much more promising bet for a top quality S- I haven't seen this, though so would be interest to hear if anyone has. There are also a few other V8's in classifieds at lower money which would definately be worth a look before making any decision.

I had hoped for a more "mint" version for this money, but perhaps its the V8 thats pushed it up, had it been a V6 it may of been priced for less and more what i had in mind.
Also the "grey" is not really a stand out colour for me tbh. Feeling and hinting green or the deep blies at the moment, although reds are warming me lol , but not so much the grey. I do like the idea of a black, are there many blacks out there?
