I have what appears to be a mint condition V6 Cologne as a possible replacement for the tired engine in my S1 but the engine number puzzles me, someone out there will know much more about it than me. Engine is believed to have been a factory replacement engine and carries the marks; PRD AER 97786. Any info?
It's BRD on the block instead of PRD you mentioned in your post. That means 2.9 and looks like the one youd need. I just purchaced a new block too (500 euro in crate). And gone through the same checks. BRD is definitely what you need.

Sorry, I just noticed you mention S1, If you have an S1 you might have the 2.8 essex block and that surely has a different code (not sure what) 2.9 is cologne and that is the BRD code. You sure it's 2.9?
The original engine is D0529-107 listed as a 2.8. The other engine I got hold of was sold as a 2.8 cologne. It certainly has the 2 port heads but it is apparent that it was a replacemnt short engine rather than full engine so it is possible that the block is later than the heads. Forgive my ignorance, I know that the Cologne went on for a long time but I dont know what variants it went through.
I remember finding a list with engine codes on the web somewhere. I try to find it again. If you decide on a search use "code" and "BRD". "Engine number" or "motor number" won't work I found out. good luck.

Hi, I have double checked the engine number and I am certain the prefix is PRD, followed by AEB 97786. That mean anything to anybody out there?
