Fan heater shot!!

Well, racked up another couple of hundred miles last Sunday up to Norfolk. Now done over 9,000 total

Only problem I had was when I turned the air con on. There was a terrible grinding/rattling noise from the front. Frightened me to death, it was so loud!

Tried it again when I got to the pub and it immediately blew a fuse (thanks to Tuxman for a replacement)
When I got home I noticed quite a few bits of plastic in the footwell. It looks like the blower has torn itself apart

It also looks like it's going to be a pig to replace!!


(I'm just praying it's not going to be too hot next Sunday)

Seem to remember someone else having similar and found that the grill across the inlet had come adrift and been eaten by the fan. A few minutes upside-down in the footwell retrieved all the remains of the grill leaving the unit running fine.

Here's hoping.

I had the same, although a nut came adrift off something and jammed the fan causing a 15 amp fuse to blow...the noise sounded like a gearbox dying and scared the sh*t outta me...fortunately, the nut exited onto the drivers footwell and the fuse was replaced later with no ill effects.

My blower seized on the GTR in much the same fashion. May just be the end caps of the blower housing. Best advice (though not alot of use now) is to remove them when you fit the blower in the first place!

Bad news Gaz but at least its not something too serious you will just have to manage without air-con like the rest of us fuse was no problem but i must warn you it was one of those gold plated diamond encrusted ones .....where do you want me to send the invoice ????

Not as well as I do Steve, we were on our way to Le Mans in it, in sweltering heat at the time!
