Manifolds

Gaskets gone on my manifolds, decided old manifolds so tired looking they would probably break getting off and better off with some new ones. tvrcarparts.com - £350 each left and right plus postage.
Looked at the current manifolds, got FORD and part number stamped all over them. Rung Capri club (pops a member) A matching PERFORMANCE set of manifolds powder coated in almost any colour plus gaskets..............£139 the pair!!!
Cannot believe the mark up for the same items!!

Just finishing mine, went the stainless rout via Tim at ACT, excellent quality item, this was just the start of it. The car has not moved since October as a result of 8 weeks to shift the 6 off side bolts 2 of which broke, and eventually had to be machined out. Now just cleaning all the gasket surfaces to reassemble the top of the engine.

Good luck with yours, remember lots of patience and no brute force.

Excuse me if I appear a bit stupid, but don't the TVR manifolds leave the head and travel towards the front of the car.....?? I've owned half a dozen Capris over the years (from 2.0 to 3.0) and don't recall the manifolds on any of those doing anything other than exit downwards and towards the rear of the car....... Do you have a cunning plan.....??

I Also agree that this is the case ,capri ones go backwards

However if they have a genuine ford number on them then maybe they do fit

what is the part number ??

I can supply stainless including new front pipes in stainless for £320 pr and mild for £285 pr both plus carriage and vat.

boys boys, the manifolds have a ford number cast in them. Does this mean its a 2.8 S1 with the cast iron manifolds rather than the 2.9 fabricated tubular?

Isan't it that the right one is on the left and left on right so they go forward rather that back

There appears to have been a misunderstanding on the price. Our manifolds are tubular stainless steel (originals were cast on 2.8) and the price quoted would have been for a pair of manifolds gaskets and fittings. They are available as seperate items if required.

I have an early S1 and the manifolds head very slightly to the front then straight down, like I said just quoted the part number stamped on them and thats the price I got quoted. Gets better though, just had it looked at properly and my manifolds are fine, just need gaskets (capri clup £5.65 plus £1.25 postage) and new bolts (£1.01 each from ford) Could of got them cheaper from a volkswagen dealer 59p each but as none that close to me it would cost me more in petrol.
Was tempted to put a new big engine in but with replacement prices like these I think i'll keep the current one lol.

Wow thats expensive for the bolts, got the wife to go to the local bolt and tool shop today and she got 12 Stainless bolts for the manifolds £2.80 the lot bargin I thought.

I now declare I offically hate cleaning gasket surfaces.
