Guy's, couple of questions from a potential buyer.
I noticed someone has fitted proper indicator stalks and headlights I think, in the Ultima register photos, is this hard to do as Ted's demo car has them on a switch on the dash which I wasn't keen on.

Secondly, I'm not keen on the central instuments but like the thought of either realigning this to the drivers side or replacing with Stack dials, is this hard to do??

Lastly, many Noble M12 owners have upgraded their rear lights to LED style with dark covers, this looks brilliant and I was wondering if anyone has done the same with an Ultima (if not I'm happy to be the first).

Thanks for the info in advance...

Rob.

PS. Does anyone know anything about the frame for sale in the classifieds??

The stalks I'm told are easy to fit and the common choice is Escort. This deals with all the normal controls and gets rid of loads of switches on the dash. Its even easier to do at the time of the build but some have done it later.

I have the Stack dash and like it. Others don't because you can't scan your gauges to check for problems. The reality is that the Stack is doing that for you and will warn on any parameter if there is a problem. It is not difficult to fit and Ultima can supply a GF pod to suit the Stack and are also a Stack dealer.

I don't think I've seen an Ultima with the led lights clear or dark but the light units used are just about the right size so best of luck.

The frame for sale in the classifieds looks good but I'm not sure about the silver myself. The seller is known to us so no issues there. Only other observation is that the chassis has the flat rather than dropped floor which means if your in the 6 foot region then you may not fit without modifying it. The mod is not that difficult if you can weld or know someone who can.

Edit...If you are serious about building then you should not miss Stoneleigh show next weekend. I'm not sure quite how many customer cars will be there each day but a convoy of about a dozen will arrive together on Sunday having formed up at Warwick services on the M40 Northbound. Your chance to pick brains and see how others have put their own mark on a build.

I have fitted a different set of gauges to the standard Ultima. If you go with Stack i believe the factory will supply a modified loom to interface the old loom and the stack pod. I have used the SPA-UK intergrated dash which i think looks very good. You would need to have some understanding of electrical wiring or know someone that does as you would need to sort out the wiring mods yourself. you also need to take into account how you will house the 'different' instruments as well.

The silver bare chassis belonged to gtrclive who is now emigrating and has sold all of his kit to another builder who already had a chassis and is going to sell it straight on. It has the FIA cage as opposed to the RAC and is well worth the money IMO. Just remember, when you are ready to get the body, get the correct colour

Thanks for the info guys.
Is the Stack pod fitted centrally or in front of the driver?
I'm definitely going for that option anyhow (stack).

Hi Rob,

I will be bringing the chassis to Stoneleigh so that potential buyers can have a look at it. If you are around and still interested, I could meet you there on the Sunday...

Cheers,

Mart

Make sure you park it up along with us on the 'Club' stand. It will be an additional talking point.
