I`ve put the Mamas and Papas Pro Tec car seat in, no probs. But it would be better if I could remove the seat backs.

Anyone know how to do this, or is it an OPC job?

Hi

I just bought a demo 997 c4s cab and had the opc remove the rear seat on the passenger side in order to gain some space for the baby seat (the Mamas and Papas seat was too tall for the cab by the way , it seems to fit in the coupes only). The OPC explained to me that it's easy to reinstall. The back support is velcroed onto the carpet in the car and so is the cushion base, so that literally takes seconds to remove. The top part of the seat is kept in place by a single bolt which I believe requires an allen key in order to be removed. The bolt is located towards the door side of the car (ie on the passenger side it would be on the right hand side), just unscrew it and the seat slides off a 3 inch long bar, for example on the passenger side you would have to slide it to the right, where the bolt was located before you unscrewed it. I'm not great at explaining things like this, but I hope this has helped anyway.

if the 997 is the same as 996, it is very easy, it gives you a lot more space in the back. it also allows the seat to recline a bit more, as for me it was to upright. Now all you have to do is explaine that there shoes are not allowed to hit the back of the seat in front. Good luck

What seat did you buy?I have a cab and may need to buy a baby seat in the next few weeks and was wondering which is the best one for a 9 month old baby.

hi W1how

I actually ended up using an old Mercedes baby seat that I owned already, it fits perfectly in the back. It's called Mercedes Duo, comes at the bargain price of £ 295.- . I needed to have this seat in my wife's Mercedes ML since it has an airbags off chip in it for the front passenger seat. (Chip doesn't work on the Porsche as far as I know) Here's a link for MB seats http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/conte

With the seat in the rear removed you will be able to fit many other baby seats I'm sure, no need to fork out £ 295.- really, then again the Mercedes seat is a particularly sturdy one, so it's not a complete waste of money.

Hope this helps,

great stuuf, thanks. I didn`t realise that the backsupport was also velcroed on. That explains it, I`ll have a look later, so by removing the leather part on the backsupport it should expose the bolt???

Hi Forest172

I just had another look at the rear seats and yes once you remove the velcroed on back support it exposes the bolt.

Hi 911Fan,

Sorry for the slow response, only just seen the message.... The velcro is on the back of the lower back support, so just pull on it and it'll come off. Think it's a standard allen key, I had my OPC do it before I picked my car up.

Cheers M'M1nd, much appreciated. In fact, the horizontal seat lifts off its velcro fastenings very easily too. Thanks all.
