Yes, you've got it. I parked under a tree and I swear those birds have eating something that sets like concrete. What's the best way to remove it without damaging the finish? Blast it off with water, soak with a j cloth or scrub it off in some way?

Do it asap.

DuPont recommend no longer than 10 hours before it starts to permanently damage the paintwork apparently.

In the past I have got as much off with water, then (honestly) sprayed WD-40 on it. Has worked for me.

Kitchen towel, soak in water, put it on, walk away and leave it for five mins, when you come back you should be able to rinse it away.

I'm stating the obvious here I know, but I'll say it anyway, do not use any sort of cloth to rub/agitate it as it contains grit and it will scratch.

Carefully!

My technique as follows:

1. Soak kitchen roll in water.
2. Place soaked kitchen roll on shite
3. Leave for a few minutes
4. Should wipe straight off

Thanks all. Will get the kitchen towel on it asap. Got most of it off last night by soaking with a sponge. I am avoiding trees from now on.

Dont ever try and wipe it off. Bird sh1t usually contains lots of grit which will scratch the paint to hell.

Cover it with wet paper towells to soften it and then blast it straight off with a hose pipe.

licking it off is the only way to be safe. Start at the edges and work inwards.

I didn't think of that but now I have tried it and I can honestly say it works, don't taste good but it left my paintwork unblemished.

Doesn't it say in the handbook not to use 'round nosed' pressure washers? I could check but the car is 10 yards from the front door and after last night that seems a long way.
