What's SM up to today?

fair enough, though you'll be passing right by my house
seriously though, unless your intending on racing down the M4 to Reading, I'd say take the A420 out of Bristol towards Chippenham then your practically on the M4 anyway - its a great driving road and will be a lot more enjoyable than the M32/M4 and not much slower

First ~100 miles into GT2 ownership, and I'm disappointed...

...in the radio! So I had to turn it off and listen instead to the crisper engine and snarling turbos. What a sensational bit of kit. I prefer it to the turbo in every way. Well apart from the rubbish radio lol.
Even at this stage I'm totally delighted I took the plunge into widowmaker ownership, and although I loved midnight blue, this thing looks stunning in polar silver.
Only once did it astonish/scare me slightly coming off a roundabout. The throttle response (contrary to my first impressions) is crisp and accurate and gave me quite a bit more torque than I expected, and although nothing serious happened, I was somewhat surprised at the mid corner grunt I got. I certainly seemed to dispatch with the gears quicker than I'm used to down the sliproad...

Told ya
Bear in mind the following : Adaptive throttle (the more/harder you thrash it, the better the response) Use BP Ultimate or Shell V Power (either make a massive difference to the response and boost available) Get some proper heat into the turbos (the lag will all but disappear) take care mind or so will the back of the car through the nearest hedge
Glad to hear your enjoying it
I thought you were removing the ceramics before you drove the car away from the dealership ?

ps This is a happy thread -- no mention of PCCB allowed...
<cough>How's your MAF?<cough>
I am very much looking forward to being scared witless in this thing. Don't stuff it before the weekend please Mr Mono!
Well I managed to nurse the old girl to work this morning in the rain.
MAF is fine. Haven't you heard? PCCB are the new MAF... SM

It's certainly a super bit of work. Brakes, sheesh. I got them to quote swapping for steels but their salesman was hopeless. I asked for a quote for the work and eventually he came back with "about 5 1/2 grand". I said that seemed dear was that all new calipers too? Somehow he gave the distinct impression that I was being a complete PITA for wanting to drop a few k more on the car at his dealership and huffed and puffed and asked (as if he didn't want to do it) if I was after a complete breakdown of costs. Err, yes that's what a quote is! Actually I told him not to bother. I took photos of the brakes before I left, I took more of them at Reading where I stopped off on the way home and have some sort of a report of the condition of those brakes. According to Porsche materials they're between 1 (lightly rough) and 2 (a bit more rough) of their four stage worn out process.
Anyhow, brakes, la la la la, fingers in ears, la la la, not listening, la la la.
Fortunately the car's stunning and I'm just enjoying it as it is for now...

Welcome to the GT2 owners section, dark coloured underwear is not a requirement once you have learnt the throttle control technique - best not practised in the rain or on greasy roundabouts.
Stick with the PCCB mate, best road brakes you will ever experience once warmed through and I think your car has the improved version fitted. '04 car right? Don't be put off by the PCCB detractors as 99% have never driven a GT2, even less have driven one across country on unrestricted roads!
Did you like the first experience of 'Retro' wiper delay settings in the rain - tip:RainX.
Enjoy!
