Installing wire mesh pieces

Does anyone have any suggestions on triming and bending these to wrap around the fiberglass without scratching them? Any other tricks I should know about?

I didn't bend mine just trim them to overhang the FG by about 1/8" then wire in place with bits of stick across the opening. Impregnate the weave of the mesh at the point where it touches the GF and the rest of the overhang. Then build up a fillet of mastic behind the overhang. I believe this is the way the factory do it. The mesh is quite hard and brittle so will not bend nicely and may even snap.
