Whats the consensus on 993 Turbos like these?

Interiors aren't the best, but if the price was right, these would be a lot of car for the money. My concerns is the increase in BHP - would this lead to a drop in reliability, service, runnings costs, etc?
Any reason why one would shy away from these cars if they were cheaper to reflect the trouble you would go through on resale?
Still at work and will be here for a while, so please distract me!

I'd steer clear of both, only unmolested examples are worth the money in my opinion. Both of these cars are mutton dressed as lamb. with the first one been way over priced.
I disagree - both represent good value especially if you look at the price of bringing a standard turbo up to the spec of either of these two. Depends what you're after. Any 993TT is going to need new suspension, they all respond well to tuning so do all the checks and buy one or both

No, 911wise is right.
Muck about with a classic and all you do is devalue it - whatever you spend!
I'd agree with all the posts actually. My point was this: they are both clearly overpriced. However, should they come DOWN in price to something that reflects they have been mucked about with, would the mucking about itself be a reason not to buy for reasons of unreliability or whatever?
Just realises that reads pretty badly, apologies!

We're all potential buyers here. From my perspective, I've got a TT and now i'm spending money increasing performance etc. Had I known then what I know now I may have just gone out and purchased an already modified car. These cars are not cheap to modify (esp gt2 look a like) so there's no reason to expect a discount over the price of a standard car. I think they're both priced reasonably well. What would you want to pay is the question?
Ask MOD500, Derestrictor or TB993 about the cost of mods. I'd like to buy any of their cars for the price of a standard one!
The GT2 look car has been in the classified for a few months now. While the costs of modification is certainly high, it is not easy to sell on. It is for that reason that a lot of modified cars sell at more or less the same price as stock (rule of thumb, I know full well it can go either way!).
I like the look of both these cars, though I don't think I would trust the 600bhp one to take me down to waitrose without blowing something eventually!
Plus, I'd re-upholster them to black!
I'd take the Turbo "s" at around 40 odd and the 600 bhp at probably a little under 40! Totally unrealistice I know, just saying what I would be comfortable buying at.

Nothing at all wrong with the interior on the second one IMO. Savannah only became a horror on the 996, when Porsche hired Mr. Bean to do their interiors. But as tertius said above, I think that second car has a relatively indistinguished history that has been discussed here before. The interior on the first car was a version of awful.

All subjective I guess... I have always though a "proper" sportscars should have a basic black interior! Then again, there's an example of a "proper" stereotype!
Reckon the 600BHP car could pottle along in London traffic?

You're not alone, which is why I sort of like interiors in more slightly more adventurous colours - within reason. Black interiors send me to sleep slightly, because the Germans in particular have a black leather fetish, and it seems pretty much 99% of anything tasty over here has its interior specified in 'Black Hole of Calcutta' trim. I hate overwrought and garish interiors, but must admit to being fond of a bit of contrasting trim or stitching to make an interior look a little more bespoke and individual. I think that savannah equipped 993 above looks nice, beacuse the tan is restricted to the seats and door panels. It's when these sorts of colours reach the dash, steering wheel and carpet as well that I have to reach for the sick bag.
ETA - Ok it's the carpets here as well, but I still kinda like it.

All for a trim actually! My Porsche has lovely black leather seats with red piping, my lancia the same... I agree that there needs to be touch a colour.
Both cars must go like stink though.
And LOVE the clear lenses on that mint black non-classified (sadly!) turbo s.

Lovely cars in your fleet, there AD. That 944 looks smashing, and as for your little Italian number - yum.
Flattered mate. Thank you!
Doing some soul searching about the Lancia, as it has been off the road for almost 2 years with leaking carbs. Trying to find another set is a nightmare!
Like the look of your toys by the way - you have had a real fleet! Had a drive of an elise, exige and Exige 240 cup back to back a few weeks ago. Low on power at the top end, (you know what i mean when compared to something with 300+) but what handling! I will admit to enjoying the elise the most at speeds under 60mph... beautiful balance.

My fleet is getting reworked as we speak. Should be totally different in a few weeks or months, and am hoping to pack in a bit more interesting gear (such as you already have), subject to some consensus with a couple of friends that are going to share the whole buying and running proces with me - which should be great fun. Know what you mean on the Lotus - it does need to be caned a bit to give its best in any variant. They're really most at home on a track where you can keep them screaming. Wish they'd come up with a compact V6 or something, as the Toyota engine's not particularly tuneful. Be a shame to say goodbye to that Lancia - I don't know if I've ever seen one on the road. Very pretty.
The first one has had the work done by Tech 9, so should be a great job. Phil Hindley and co do have ALOT of experience modding road going 911's, especially turbos (they did mine). I bet the car is running the 500 hp kit from Techart, which includes a proper full Motronic remap opposed to the boost controller set up fitted to the other car. Techart are a respected tuner with a great reputation.
I remember the 2nd one from Malton, would be worth checking it's history ....
There is no way it is running 600 hp, bar in the Chronicles of Narnia I think. 500-ish I reckon is much more realistic
Without sounding biased, I would go for the Tech 9 car, am sure the owner would put you in contact with Tech 9 for the full SP on the car
I think it folly to negate all modded cars as mooted early in the thread, there are alot of tuners out there, a few of whom produce blinding upgrades. Its a case of doing research and finding out who knows what they are doing re tuning such cars.
Regards paying less for a modded car, of course you never get back all you shell out on mods upon resale, but hopefully you get some percentage back (albeit small). The thing is with these cars, no matter how much you think you won't mod when buying a turbo, after a while you come round to the idea since the stock car is so capable and crying out for more go. So, bar not 'experiencing' the upgrade process, going straight for a modded car is the way forward and makes eminent financial sense .... believe me.
Another 993 here also, that looks nice:
