Well what can I say ... ?
a few months ago I decided to buy a road car - I had this Ferrari bug and test drove a 575 SuperAmerica ,430 Manual . I also looked at an Aston Martin DB9 ,AMV8
then reality set in .. all I know are Porsches + I didnt want to do 20-30 K depreciation on a car again and a Carrera GT is just out of reach !
I looked at GT2 and found a low mileage May 03 with one owner with no accidents or trackdays
I thought the car was Incredible and the turbo rush is addictive so much so that I took the car to Parr for a Geo set up, different exhaust etc
I collected the car yesterday and noticed straight away the car was more smoother in traffic
the sound from the Cargraphic exhaust a lot better on the ear and when I planted the throttle the speed .. well ( it remined me of the Ruf Rturbo I drove 3 years ago )
The upgrades have been Cargraphic exhaust ( which does not boom at 2-3K )diverter valves,Air filter,ECU and other tweeks as well as a fast road GEO set up
I let Steve Rance drive the car yesterday and he thought the torque and power delivery was Incredible
and the sound through tunnels reminds me of the GT2s at le mans !

A 200 mph + car for just over 72 K - I know ive made the right choice now ( although that Ferrari bug is still lingering )

the car is being detailed now so pics to follow

BTW

before this thread gets hi -jacked by Kayc and the 4 wheel drive Turbo lot

I went out for in spin in my friend 997 Turbo a few days
the GT2 would run rings round it ,the GT2 felt lighter more responsive and communicates with the driver better !

Hi Tim,

Cars sounds amazing but what did you think of the 575 SA? I see there is now a nice one just below the 150 mark, i wonder how long before they get to 110/120?

I had a 997 TT Tip for about a week and thought it was rather boring and really noticed the turbo lag so cant see how a RW Turbo would not run rings round it. It didnt have sc so that may have a made a big difference.

Sounds great!

Out of interest which Cargraphic loudness setting (if that makes sense) did you go for?

(i.e. Export / SS / whatever the other one is)

Looking forward to the pics. A sound file would be the icing on the cake. As for the Ferrari bug - just rent one of them for a weekend. 's all they're good for, really, as I feel they're more toy than car - unless they suddenly became brilliantly engineered when I wasn't looking. I like the 599, though. Shame it costs more than a helicopter.

Hardly comparing like with like Tim,standard road car with a reasonably heavily modded Gt2..im sure some of the 700bhp+ modded 997tt's would give the Gt2 a hammering on the road as well..in fact if its damp/wet i would suggest a standard 997tt would be a quicker place to be..

I found the 575 Super America a quick car but the car scuttled shaked a lot +
it also was a bit vague !
I would Imagine the long roads in America would suit it better
I overtook 5 car in one go on the test drive down a country lane - Instant power from the V12
the Salesman nearly had a heart attack + he kept quiet after that

'Super' in 'America'.... I get it now. I believe the Euro version is called the Europa di Merda.

Hi Tim,

How is your geo setup, also do you know what camber, toe, ride height adjustmants were made?
Are you still running the standard rear control arms?

Cheers

I dont know what settings etc the car has but Paul Robe from Parr smiled when he said I would like it - both myself and Rance said it is the most power that you would want from a road car
no figures have been given to me !

Kayc - dont forget Ive driven probably the best Ruf car at the time it cost £300 K and had 600 + true BHP it also had a button for rough roads to Increase suspension height
(I did 2 tanks of petrol in it - so no test drive !)

Im saying that the GT2 now is very similar in speed to that monster + a lot lighter
+ £70 K ish

Tim,

You should get a Fezza 599 when they have depreciated a bit. They are still "a bit dear" at the moment though.

The car felt good. Nice chasis for road use, much more steering feel than a TT. Not a difficult car to drive at all but not something that I would reccommend for a point a squirt driver. Thee power delivery was very good, no turbo lag. Very quick car, I liked it a lot.
