Yup and what's frustrating is out of 500'000 people caught on camera in London each year, only 170'000 get a fine or points.

I am NOT for a moment saying I agree with speed cameras, but it rankles that if I am caught I will get a fine, yet TWO OUT OF THREE people won't.

Appropiate nick btw.

'Due to foreign registrations' was listed as one of the reasons. Well, long may this continue as far as I'm concerned. I don't know if any of us is looking forward to the day when there's a European-wide database where every traffic violation or minor transgression you make, be it in London or Milan, gets back to your doorstep. For the moment, it's nice to have a good chance of evading a camera-prompted fine abroad in a UK registered car (and likewise in the UK for a German registered one). Is it irresponsible of me to think this way? Probably a bit - but still... I don't begrudge someone else getting away with a speeding fine just because I got caught.

Sure, I tend to agree with you on the foreign registrations, but for those that have no tax, no insurance, cloned plates etc. grrrrr

Fair enough. I agree with you there - but let's not lose sight of the fact that we probably don't want to be recommending that the current system be made any better or more efficient at collecting revenue. Particularly between one country and another. It'll happen anyway, but I'm happy enough to enjoy these last few days of relative freedom.

We are far too much in agreement, my point is fewer cameras, more patrol cars !

No. No. I can't have that. I have to stop you there, because I completely agree.

Not toooo many patrol cars, though - right? I mean - I don't want them all over my favourite B-roads and stuff.

so to recap, the government stick up tax cameras and and put less traff pol on the roads, people decide its easier and cheaper to drive an unregistered car with no tax insurance etc and becuase there are less plod on the streets lots of people are getting away with it.

I dont think it takes a genius to work out how to fix the problem ?

I don't have any mates. confused

Just joking, sure you can own a car, what I meant was only I can drive. Apart from East Anglia, I don't envisage ever going there.

Great - so if you're the only one driving and won't come to East Anglia, all our nice roads will be free for me !!

I like the way they blame it on foreigners & people not registering there cars at there home address. How about all the coppers & politicians that get away with it. Maybe the 52% of people who didn't receive a NIP quickly applied to become a copper or joined new labour.
