Pagid Orange on GT3
Discussion
Anyone tried Pagid Orange (RS4-4) pads on their 3? I ask as I was considering Blues (RS4-2)for my mostly road occasional trackday jaunts but have found a good price (in USA) for Orange. I'm concerned about getting pads which need heat to work and or squeel like a pig.
Any thoughts appreciated

Gdunc, I'm currently going through whole f
g squeaky brake nightmare at the moment.
The yellow RS29s I fitted, do stop the car on a sixpence, but unless you're driving as if your "hair is on fire" they squeak like a London bus (irrespective of the speed you brake from)

I've spoken to the same contact across the pond and had the same advice re the Pagid Orange pads being quiet/quieter.
The RS29s cost a small fortune and I'm loath to spend/waste another large chunk of money on pads which may still squeak as they are, when all is said and done, still a competition pad.

Slippy - i'm def against the yellows as i'm not a major trackday regular and the noise would get to me as they wouldn't regularly be hot enough. Why not flog 'em and go for a more liveable compound?
Tsantos - i can cope with some cold squeels just not too often! Thinking i'll give them a go.
Next question is rears - stay OEM or get some Pagids on there too? Is it wise to go same compound front and rear?

Our friends across the pond tend to use different compounds front to rear to adjust the braking balance (have a search on Rennlist) personally I'd prefer to keep the bias as Porsche intended and would fit the same back and front.
Like you, I can live with brakes squealing for the final few feet after a "chaffeur stop" when hot or cold, but from well over 100mph (on track obviously ahem, cough) it ceases to be funny and a downright PITA after a while.
if you do decide to go the Orange route, please let me know how you get on ?
Cheers Slippy

Dammit, was hoping i'd convince you to try them first so that i can decide off your findings.
Ok then, i'll be ordering sometime soon and will go for the Oranges in keeping with my impulsive nature. Will keep you posted from there.

No way Jose, I'm totally p*ssed off with doing brake R & D
(those sticky anti-squeal shims start looking rather pricey when there's twenty of the little buggers need replacing every time you start swapping the pads...............) John, I'm running 362mm JZM floating Alcons on the front in conjunction with the RS29s. I initially tried "standard" OPC Pagid P90 pads with the Alcons and didn't bed them in properly
(no one thought to tell me I needed to when I had the discs and pads fitted)
they thus glazed up badly and reached a point whereby they struggled to stop the car.
Despite my best attempts to de-glaze them (and assurances that they'd be fine) they were well and truly toasted and thus fit for only one place "File 13" (the round one in the corner)
The RS29s stop the car as if chucking an anchor out of the back, but they squeal like you wouldn't believe, this despite me fitting new "stickies" (anti squeal shims), chamfering the leading edge of the pads, and gently de-glazing the pads once I'd found out how much they squealed.
The standard brakes on the GT3 worked more progressively and with better feel when warm than the RS29s on the GT2.

Sounds like Orange are a goer for me.
Does the Renntech bloke sell the anti squeel pads too?

The oranges still squeal a certain amount. . When they are hot they are ok, but once you are doing "normal" driving around the city etc they start getting noisy again..
I have tried them and went up to yellows after, much better bite/feel/wear than oranges..

So, for a mostly road application, would you say that the Oranges squeel as much as the Yellows but the Yellows are much better performers?
