Hi Gents
I am still aroung and hope to get to Stoneliegh. Just need to check out when it is as the diary is rapidly filling. Buzzing around on a motorbike at the moment having passed my test last summer. Still got my Sports? what sort of question is that! Of course I have and will bring it with me. Now where's that diary....
By the way, who's going to Le Mans?

Hi Nick,
That old dirt bike I gave you a couple of years ago gave you the biking bug did it? I've just got my Ducati Hailwood Replica back on the road and my 25 year old leathers still fit!
Hi Nick.....sorry about the delay in getting back to you but my original login and password was getting rejected.
Anyway I can claim to have been driving the blue Spyder. My brief re-introduction back into the Caterham world with a 260CSR was very dissappointing. I spent months building an immaculate example ....if I say so myself ( !!! )...only to suffer numerous technical problems which the factory failed to resolve over many months. So it got sold back and I started looking for another Ultima.
My experience with my old Sport was quite painful too so I was determined to find a replacement that had been built really well and I am pleased to say that the new toy has lived up to that objective.I've been tidying up a few areas here and there and now consider it to be in pretty good shape. I'll be delighted to come and see you sometime.
Do hope your Sport is behaving and that life is generally OK.

No this was previously owned by Geoff Noble. He built it over two years and registered it in 2000. The guy was an engineer by trade and I have to say did a fantastic job on it. His attention to detail was of a very high standard.
While I'm connected I'm researching the benefits of accusumps versus baffled sumps for track days. Mike Huddart reckons his baffled sump is a good , low cost (£250 + Vat )solution.
What do you think ?

Andrew, good to hear that you are happy with your purchase and I am sure you will have fun with it, especially if you intend to take it on track.
I have had no experience of Accusump or baffled type but from what I have learned, both types would seem adequate. Depends on the spec of the motor to some degree but if it likes to rev I would think a good oil system to be a little more important although that said, OF COURSE, it is always important to make sure that you don't run out of oil whatever the engine spec. I would be inclined to use the Accusump system because it is tried and tested in our type of cars.

If you are running a Canton 'big winged' oil pan then they are baffled anyway, fit an Accusump for 'belt and braces'
If you do some careful shopping then you could pick up a Accusump for roughly the same price.
Hi Andrew, I hadn’t realised it was you replying in the guise of Spyder1, in fact I was just going to respond by saying oh, I know a bloke who bought a CSR in place of an Ultima. As I recall the last time I saw you, the CSR was your current project. I recall your Sport was rather complex, trying to wring turbo power out of a small rover V8. Yep! My Ultima is fine though not used much at present as I don’t have a garage currently so it is in storage. It has covered 25,000 miles with few though repeat problems such as the alternator bracket which I think I have finally cured. This years trip to Le Mans should be a good test. By the way that Z3M is still going strong as my daily conveyance with a sting in its tail for the unwary boy racer who fancies his chances.

I had heard you were drawn back into Ultima ownership. I shall take the Ultima although the Z3M was tempting as it is so practical. Last year when I turned up in the Ultima Dominic cleared the front lawn of the usual tat, astons tvr etc to allow space for the Ultimas; I would have been a bit peeved if the aston was mine but I didnt complain at the time. Great minds think alike on the BMW eh? I shall have to take a peek at your coupe as I havent been in one of those. Usual campsite and catching the 7:55 from Dover on Thursday so should be there mid afternoon. N
