Whats the best coating for chassis while work in progress, now got large areas of
exposed metal but i dont whant to finish off with a top coat until i've got it all stripped and prepped. I was going to use cure rust or a zinc base primer or some thing?

Used POR 15 last time, didnt like it when i used it last time and seeing chassis after
just over a year ive still got a coating which is coming off in lumps to reveal rust underneth, think i'll be going back to smootherite.

PS
Dont whant to start a POR 15 debate i am willing to accept that it was my surface
prep for the reason why it all coming away revealing surface rust.

Thanks
Alan

Red Oxide is pretty good and cheap, used that on my wedge outriggers, use that as the primer. I have used a zinc primer (2 coats.) on my Cerbera chassis rebuild, but it was put on in a powder booth and baked on.

I've just finished mine and I used a wire drill then treated with Jenolite followed by a couple coats of Hammerite then Waxoyled, happy with the results but time will tell...

I was expecting the Waxoyl to set a bit better than it has, still very fluid, didn't thin it just heated it.

Hi

I suggest you use Zinga on any bare metal.
