Tamora brake problem

Having been stood in a garage all winter I have a problem with the Tamora brakes, I don't think it is specific to Tamoras or even TVR.

When I press the brake pedal the servo does not operate, but if I touch the pedal again it operates, so I am driving around having to hit the brake pedal twice for the brakes to work. Does anyone know how to solve the problem?

First thing to do would be to bleed the brakes, preferably changing all the fluid, brake fluid is hydroscopic or something like that eg; it absorbs water, this then degrades the efficiency of the braking system.
