Some of you may be interested in this. The photojournalist James Nachtwey giving a talk and slide show of his work after winning the Ted prize.

There's nothing wrong with taking pretty pictures of cars, dog, cats and landscapes etc. but this stuff really demonstrates the power of picture taking to tell a story. Some stunning, beautifully composed (given the circumstances), photography of some very moving and emotive subject matter. Covers 25 years of his work from Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Somalia, WTC to Iraq. If you are of a delicate imposition (and even if you're not), you may (or perhaps should), find some of the pictures upsetting.

As a professional, taking pictures day to day of pretty boring and mundane subjects, I find this stuff truly humbling.

Incredible stuff there. I really like how creative he is with his composition where a "safe" image wouldn't be nearly as compelling.

he is my favourite photographer, the man is a quiet, humble genius.

if you ever get chance to see the documentary 'the war photographer' it's a must see.

his book inferno is difficult to look through too, but another which should not be missed.

Thanks for the link!
I had not heard of him before but he seems to be an exceptional photographer and man with a truly fantastic and meaningful career. Amazing, beautiful, disturbing and above all humbling pictures.
