Question for LSx owners...

I'm looking for a measurement one of you might know right off the cuff. What is the distance from the center of the drive flanges on the trans to the front of the engine (front of the pulleys/belt, to be exact)? I am of course making an assumption that the transaxles are fairly close to the same dimension on the bellhousing end regardless of Getrag, G50, etc. and the three different LS's are also roughly the same.

I'm gathering info to hopefully build a one-off mid engine project and I have been educating myself to the engine/transaxle choices avail. This forum is invaluable for research and should be required reading for anyone even considering a build of any type.

Far more over there have gone the LS route. Here in the UK our registration system favours the older SBC meaning we have no emissions to comply with apart from a 'visual smoke test' quite how such a thing is calibrated is a mystery.

Give me some more info. What is a drive flange? Do you mean the part where you bolt the axles to? I have a LS7 & G50/52. I'll be glad to help, just give me some more info. Paul

I'm hoping for a number around 31-32 inches. I've read where some have even pushed the drivetrain rearward so that the driveaxle centerline is well past the rear wheel centerline. I have a chart that lists the amount in % that the CVs can safely operate at an angle and it is more than I would have guessed (25 degrees on a 930 joint) so this might help the math on my project.

It is an honest 35" from the center of the trans axle shaft to the front of the engine, including pulleys. Hope that helps.

Thanks Paul! Especially for taking into account the pulley clearance. Its not the number I wanted, but now I have a real figure to work with and can make adjustments to my planning.
