Thinking about getting my interior tidied up. Side bolsters, gear stick, handbreak are starting to show their age...
Question is how long does the connolising last for before it needs to be re-done? And do you get stuck in a cycle of having to re-connolise every few years?
Finally (once and for all) does the connolising process "seal" the leather? Some seem to say that it permanently coats it meaning leather conditioners etc are of no use any more. Others suggest that it is pretty much the same process that the hides go through at the factory so it makes no difference... What's actually correct?!
Thanks in advance
Mark

It seals it, absolutely no doubt. I had mine done by Benchmark leather of Danbury.
Lasts about 3-4 years; throw away any cleaners, I was told to only use mild soap powder to clean them, otherwise you'll end up stripping the surface off again.
Mark (of the above) gave me a bottle of the stuff for touch ups, and I've just had to start using it here and there, mainly on the passengers side where they are less careful than I, my side the drivers that is is still fine, I've covered about 15k since they were refinished.

Oh, pics and details in my sig

You not tried treating it with liquid leather ?
Hi Paul, can you expand on this?
Not familiar with this product.
i have a little wear on my drivers seat bolster, which needs attending to, would this suffice?
www.liquidleather.com/
A very good leather cleaner and conditioner, restores the appearance of creased leather and even smells like leather.

Hi Ed,
Yep, fully agree.
You can get it from e bay here
Recommend it thoroughly.
All leather should be fed to keep it supple.
People mistakenly clean leather and use polish it, thats a no no, you should only ever use soap and water on hide trim.
This stuff nourishes and restores the leather, and gives it that beautiful nappa feel.
Get the cleaner as well, which you use first.
Once the hides are dry, pour some liquid leather into a saucer, or pot, and apply it using a circular motion with your finger tips. Sounds a bit wierd, but you massage it in.
Top quality gear, should be used on any car with trim.
Leather needs to be fed every year
Ive used it a succession of cars, and its pukka.

Thanks i'll give it a whirl!
Yes I thought Liquid Leather was the nuts too until I had a new set of sports seats restored by Jeff Mussell (based in Godalming, Surrey).
He used a Croftgate Leather Cream which feeds and nourishes the leather just like LL, but having compared the results with those of using LL on my original seats, the finish seems less shiny and less fragrant than with LL giving an 'unused' quality.
I've noticed you can get this stuff for about half the price of LL on Fleabay, and whereas LL wants you to buy a cleaner and conditioner, this stuff seems to be a one-tub solution :
