As my new car hits 1 year old, I had a letter from Porsche asking me for comments on the car and dealer.

The idea is you go to a website and enter a personalised code they provided.

Only after entering your text the website crashes (some database error) when you submit. So... you try again and it crashes. Guess they don't want to know what I thought and why I'm not buying another then?

PS. Working in IT I cannot understand how anyone releases such a site without adequate testing. Even the government's websites do what they're supposed to these days.

My car is now just over one year old, so hopefully I'll get the opportunity to provide some feedback too......

Perhaps.

Perhaps it's the way I press the submit button with a little too much pressure on the mouse? Or perhaps it was because I was drinking tea at the time. Ooor, it was rather sunny on Friday and that could have been it?

I think it's probably illegal characters (so ', &, £, etc..) or length of text in a field, but all these should have been covered in "Generating web forms: Lesson 1".

Maybe they got the same pissed up Finnish bloke who put the clutch in my car to do it?

hehe

You needed a clutch in the first year? What was the mileage?

I didn't say you were. I said that the bloke who put the clutch in my car was a) Finnish (true) and b) p*ssed (probably - estimated on appraising his work!)

Hell, who am I kidding... 90% of Finns are probably pissed right now..! Never try a drinking contest with a Finn is all I can say....

Still amazed that Porsche chose Finland (one of the highest labour costs in the EU) to assemble some of their cars...

First month mate... and that was 1400 miles.

Turns out the clutch / gearbox wasn't in properly. Something to do with an incorrect assembly at the factory or something. On the forums there were a few of these, but we're only talking a handful in thousands of the early models - I was simply unlucky. The dealer (East London OPC) looked after me well (supplying me with pretty much a car of my chosing!), but Porsche couldn't supply the replacement part for 3 weeks. Never did get an answer to why they couldn't pluck a part from the line and DHL it over. However, at the end of the day, the dealer's selection of loan cars certainly took the pain away, and once mine was rectified it's been 100% and I've not looked back.

The site is probably still reeling from the flaming I gave my local OPC a couple of weeks back. Was invited to provide feedback after a major service and, owing to being properly messed around I was only too happy to.

Response has been very good though, got an apologetic call from the delaer the next day and, to their credit, they are making a big effort to make amends.
