I've just picked up my new C4S and all 4 tyres are shot (I knew this obviously when I negotiated!). However, the outside edges of the tyres are the worst part. Almost bald on the edges. Anyone know what has caused this? As I don't want to spend £600 on my new set of Pirellis to find that the same happens.

My immediate reaction would be that the car could either well have seen some
serious track action, or the Geo is well out...

Seeing as you say all 4 are scrubbed, i'd say the 1st option is more likely...

Sounds like the geometry could be shot. When was the last time it was done?
How is the handling?

The geometry on the C4S is pretty adjustable (much like most sports cars) and it can go 'off'
Well worth spending a few quid having it setup properly by someone who knows what they are doing and either having it put back to standard or adjusted to suit.

Chris Franklin at Centre of Gravity is highly recommended. I am having mine done on Friday
Pretty good explaination here www.ybapublications.co.uk/shortcircuit/Features/sc_story_wheel.htm
Not to be confused with a fairly straight forward 4 wheel alignment.

Im must agree with glenn first point, it looks like the cars been driven hard on cornering, because of the 4WD its fun to try and get the rear end to brake loose and I admit to trying this on occasions. when you have the new tyres fitted just keep a careful eye on how there wearing. Conti Sports N2 £190.50 each for rears kwik fit. DON'T GET THEM TO FIT THEM.

I was going to Kwik Fit today!! They've got Pirellis on offer at the moment with 25% off. Why not get them to fit them???

Kwik-Fit just outside Brighton did a fantastic job on mine for my C4S too, the manager did them himself, checked the rims first with me and used plenty of gaffer tape on all the metal tools he used, and didn't rush the job in anyway. I was so impressed I've never gone anywhere else since ! (And of course they have the "price promise" thing going still !

Sounds like it may be track action to me - I took mine on a track day (knowingly with tyres that were on their way out) and stripped the outside edges bald with all the sideways hooning stuff !
