Hi, I have just sold my Sylva Phoenix and am the proud new UK owner of unfinished Ultima Sport, well, unstarted actually, doing lots of research and looking for a bit of guidance.

I was wondering on my research travels of the net whether to go down the dash dial route (I like the look of the 'old style') or the digi dash route. I noticed that the ETB DigiDash 2 is not really expensive and does a few more tricks than the old style guages. Does anyone have any views on the best units to go for?

I am thinking of using an electric water pump - any problems here?

Things I can think of that I need if anyone has them for sale or advice.
G50 gearbox & gear change linkage
Oil cooler(s)
seats & runners & harnesses
dash!
one front upright (?)
all wheel bearings & hubs
Track rod ends
lights & front light surround
Steering column
wheels & tyres
catches & latches
supercharger to suit Lexus 4.0 V8.
Fuel pumps (do they have one or two?)

That's about all for now thanks!

Digi or analogue is really down to personal preference. There are good and bad points about each. You can scan a line of analogue but may have to scroll through the same on a digi. You may be able to set warning levels in the digi so an alarm goes off if something is wrong with this there is no need to look at the readings at all.

Some have sad tales to tell about electric pumps. If you do go that route then make sure it will flow enough to copy in the worst conditions.

You may find the chassis is designed for a Renault gearbox and change mechanism. I have seen a chassis at the factory being modified to take a G50 but I think there’s quite a bit to it.

Wheel bearings and hubs will most likely be Ford Granada Guia. The brakes could be the same as well unless you intend to go bigger. You will need two remote servos for these. One for the front brakes another for the rear.

You could try Car Builder Solutions for the uprights but will probably have to be a pair.

All I can help with at the mo.

Thanks Steve that's a great help. The car came with a set of willwood four pots and pads for the front so not too worried about that. Didn't realise that it used Granada uprights! The one I have is a alloy item but if I need to buy two so be it.

Does anyone have a coipy of the buiuld manual for sale?

No the uprights are not Granada.
Huds, bearings, brakes are.

As I said Car Builder Solutions for the uprights.

I like the look of the front uprights, would seem better to me to have the steering arm as one piece rather than having to bolt it to the back of the upright, as per the standard Ultima design.

I have a Metzier EWP on the GTW and have experienced no problems YET! Many will steer you away from using one but I believe that to be a direct result of the 'if it aint broke, don't fix it' school of thought plus they are still relatively new on the scene so not much feedback is yet available.

Ultima's price for the uprights is cheeper,

does anyone think that it would be better to have the steering arms as a seperate item rather than have them cast into the upright ?

I like them to be seperate as any damage in that area is more likely to damage the whole upright if they are cast in one. I do have a problem with the bulk and weight of the standard arms and am in negotiation with regards to getting some lighter alternatives manufactured.
