Zymolling Today - Tips Please
Discussion
Hey guys, Cleaned the car yesterday with the autobathe, and would like to spend today polishing up ( sad git that I am ). I'm a zymol virghin, and got the Glasseur wax kit for xmas and haven't used it yet ( apart from the autobathe to wash the thing ), so I'm really looking for some tips. Also Exactly what does the HD cleanse do ?? and I have an array of little pads that came with the kit, anybody know what pad is for what ?? If somebody can give me some pointers, it would be most appreciated....

Hi, The HD takes off the muck (and any old wax) use in straight lines I believe. When all clean and squeaky apply the Zymol warm a small amount in your hand and apply with your fingers (a very small amount goes a long way. Do a panel at a time and buff of more or less straight away. Micro towels do a great job of buffing I buy mine from bedding shops or such like very cheap don't do the Halfrauds for such stuff.
Stand back and admire then pass shop windows at low speed and admire again.

First of all find yourself a nice shaded area , its going to be warm today
HD Cleanse contains montan oil , which is a natural solvent , its all about cleaning/cleansing the paint before you put your wax on.
If the paint isn't properly cleaned then the wax wont bond to it.
Did you get a clay bar with your kit ?
If not , pop down to hallfords and get a meguiars clay bar kit from them (about £10.)
Always best to do this first as it will remove all the airborne contamination from the paint , make it incredibly smooth and give a better overall finish.
HD Cleanse.
You should have a white spongey applicator pad in your kit.
I normally squirt quite a bit on to start and rub it into the pad , making sure its nice and moist with the HD.
Squirt some onto the pad and the rub it in straight lines following the lines of the car over a panel, (dont try and od the whole panel in one , I normally for example split the bonnet / roof into 4 , other panels into 2)
Pass over the section you are working on 3 or 4 times insuring an even coverage with the HD , then buff it off immediately with a micro fibre , HD is designed to be used whilst still moist so dont let it dry on the panel.
With it being a bit warm today , you may have a bit of residue left on the panel, just pass your applicatior over the top of the residue and wipe it straight off.
Then continue over the panel overlapping everywhere you have been previously .
I normally Cleanse over each panel twice , this will also give you a better finish.
Waxing
The biggest mistake people make with the Zymol /swissvax range is using too much in one go .Its all about building up the layers rather than putting one thick one on.
Open your pot and rub the tips off you fingers around the surface to melt it slighlty.
take the melted wax from the surface and put it into the palm of your hand.(left hand if right handed or vice versa)
Take a small amount of the melted wax and melt it into the fore fingers off your waxing hand , you want to melt it so it goes completely clear .
Smear this gently in straight lines over the panel , you want to get almost a hologram effect rather than a thick coat , you'll now notice how far this wax actually goes.
Once you have covered a panel leave it a couple of minutes then buff it in with a clean microfibre again in straight lines.
You'll notice that you dont actually get much residue on your MF as the wax will just level itself out.
Once you have done this , pass over it again with a fresh MF to bring out the shine.
Probably best to do 1 panel at a time until you find a rhythm
leave the car for a couple of hours then pass over it again with a fresh MF to enhance the shine.
As I said earlier to get the best out of the carnauba waxes , its best get some layers built up on the car.
So get into adding a few layers over a short period of time and you'll really see the benefits.
Hope I havent sent you to sleep

Okey Dokey Skip - cheers for that. I've got a micro towel thingy in the kit, so that should be fine. When you say small amount of wax, roughly how small are we talking ??
The equivalent of a mushy pea should be enough to do a front wing. Too much wax just wastes it and clogs the polishing cloth that much sooner.

Yeah mate
I woke up with terrible kidney/back ache , don't know if it was the way I slept or the copius amounts of Kroenenbourg I drank last night
Right. All Done. I Have a few pics, but because of the failing light they're not stunning. Gotta nip out for a bit, but when I get back, I'll upload them...
I have to say I'm dead impressed with not just the fact that it looks clean, but it feels clean ( ok that's gonna sound a little freaky ). Usually when I clean it you can still feel all the crap thats left on. But the HD Cleans really does get rid of it all. Actually not one of my neighbours failed to ask me what the hell I was doing, massaging my car. I have a feeling they think I need locking up...
Anyway pics later...
