I've just seen 102 super unleaded at the garage selling at £2.42.
Would you put this in your porsche bounce

No. It would only make you go faster if your wallet was exceptionally heavy in the first place!

If your running a turbo at high boost on track and your car has been mapped for this octane fuel then yes, otherwise it's a waste of money

even if your programming is not optimized for it, the high octane stuff lessens the chance for detonation/knock. it's about the smoothness of the burn. at higher speed or boost, everything is is working harder and there is a lot of excess heat generated that has to be dealt with. think of the 102 as insurance that nothing happens.

it's the only gas that i'll use... well, besides VP116 ;-)

A few threads about it last year.

They had a GT3 on a rolling road at Goodwood FoS remapped to take advantage, ran this and std super unleaded.

Aimed at track day drivers with a car that's remapped to suit. Why they sell it in a crappy part of Portsmouth doesn't make a lot of sense though.

without sounding controversial.. eek

I hope that there are independant specialists randomly checking these fuels, to make sure what you are supposedly paying for is what you get.

I don't know how easy it is for forecourt managers to sell one fuel, but charge for another. if ya see what I mean!

Just went to fill up with some 102 today. Tried the one on the North Circular near Ace Cafe - they were out. Went over to the BP by the Docklands also on the N Circular - they were out too.

What gives? Is there some sort of nationwide shortage? confused

There are actually 2 stations in Milton Keynes that sell it, within 4-5 miles of each
other, which is a tad strange with regard to nationwide coverage confused
