Emissions mot failure

Hi guys partly bad news,my s3 has just failed the mot on the emissions.max allowed is 350 my reading was 380.Any one got any suggestions as what to do. Does the car need to be tuned? Had the engine and box out during the restoration,obviously also the distributor,managed to put this back ok,car started first time and seems to be running ok.Any help or ideas as what to do much appreciated. I should be very happy,after a total resto and only failing on the emissions, BUT look at the weather and i cant get out in it.

There are additives available from car spares shops which give a short term reduction in emmissions, I think its about £10 I used it in a an old Landrover with success, may be worth a try and a check before going back to the same garage.It may just get you through,
Or is it not worth just getting the MOT station to adjust the emissions then they cant fail it.

I'm out to a TVR do with an MOT examiner in a bit, I'll ask him for any ideas.

Got my airflow meter tweeked no problem,

The garage that did the mot had no diagnostic equipment,so couldnt sort it there and then. I think it best to get it all set up properly.Any one know within the cheshire area who specialises in tvr diagnostics.Thanks tom.

I had a very similar problem last year when mine failed MOT. It was the airflow meter, there is a very quick adjustment a garage can make and you don't need a TVR expert, just someone who knows Ford engines, and has the right equipment for reading your tickover emissions. Mine took two minutes to setup, it then passed the MOT

GET SOME FORTE INJECTOR CLEANER, RUN IT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND IT WILL BRING THE EMISSIONS DOWN WITH A BUMP.FAILING THAT CHECK THE AIRFLOW METER
