Paint Problem

I sprayed a few areas on the S last week to try and make it presentable ,they had been touched up using Nail Varnish and looked bloody awfull really.Other areas were where the bonnet had been rubbing on the front wing angle. Anyway the problem is I used Acrylic paint which went on fine but doesnt seem to stick very well, when I try to feather out the overspray it comes off in minute flakes, I rubbed the areas down using 800s wet and dry (wet) Im just wondering if I should have used a primer over a rougher surface to key it.
I intend to do a full respray next xmas hols and just want to tidy it up a bit for now.Does 2 pack work on Fibreglass????? or is it too inflexible...dont want any problems when I do the full car.

Just finished paint my v8s with 2 pack.first we uses 3ltrs of reface, a heavy filler primer flated with 108 gritt,than 2 coats of 2 pack primer, flatted with 400 gritt then a coat of sealer flatted with 800 gritt wet and dry,this stops the thinners from new paint from pickling the old paint. next came the base colour coat followed by a 3ltrs of clear laquer with 50 gramms of crystal flake and then another 2 ltrs of clear on top of that.this was to allow flatting of the clear coat without going throught to crystal flakes.the art of a great finish is all in the preperation, do not skimp here and it will pay dividends in the end.
As to you paint problem are you using a base coat with a clear laquer if so perhaps you are letting the base dry to much before applying the laquer this means the clear coat has nothing to hold on to. use a good primer and alow to fully dry so it wont shrink or sink. i hope this helps

I didn't use a primer as it really is a stop gap bodge to cover bare Fibreglass, I will re-do using a primer, as you suggest. I Will also save the info for the respray.. Got any good pics??? I am interested in the Crystal Flake finish.

yes mines the v8 rebuild photos recently posted ive just painted the bonnet and fitted it back on,im lucky having a bodyshop i can use @ work.i did everything myself except the base colour and clear coat.it should be back o the road by the end of the month ill post more photos soon

Yep, saw it looks really good, I wish that engine colour was std ,Id copy it.
