Alongside the 70-200 IS L for scale.

Very heavy lens..cannot wait to use it.

Got the 1.4x converter too Waiting for the 1D III now (well...still dreaming about that one)

For the time being, they are attaching to the 20D, which I'm still thrilled with...and with a 1.6x mag, makes the whole focal length combo somewhat long.

Need a PH sticker for the lens hood now.

You will love it, I would say it's my most used lens and the sharpest, thumbup you may want to get a drop in polariser for it if you are shooting motorsport in the bright sunshine, (get one from Hong Kong they are half the price over there) and be careful with your lens hood as it will cost you nearly £300 to replace ityikes

Excellent

Look forward to hearing your experiences with the lens. How did you get it past the wife (both financially, and physically)?

I no longer have a wife. Don't feel awkward...you couldn't have known...because I haven't spoken about it.

So...there is an answer to your question, but perhaps a rather extreme one.

Could you post here in due course 2 pictures of the same subject
one with the 300 and one with the 70-200 at 200 with the 1.4 converter
would be interested to see the difference and your comment if viewing the RAW image
Cheers
