Here we go again...
Whilst the 996TT is probably the best allround supercar money can buy, it will never give you the thrill factor that only a GT2/3 can give IMO. The GT Porsche cars are about awakeneing the senses, keeping you on your toes, get it right coming out of that bend or charging for that small opening in traffic and there is nothing as rewarding as these cars.
Take one on track and get to know its abilities, you'll be astounded at what it can do.

Thanks for the info chaps. I wonder how many of them aren't smashed up yet?
(Disclaimer: I'm not buying this with depreciation weighing that heavy on my mind, however)
With so few actually sold and so many fewer still in one piece, how is the long term looking for these cars? I see 993 GT2s have gone stupidly expensive and I know aircooled classic and all that, but what about the 996? Range wise it seems a bit like the poor relation between 993 and 997 in many ways, but the GT2s will always be desirable, right?
Wonder what it'll be worth in 5 years' time?

Thanks I know you get a load of grief here ("it's ok if you're just tarting up a car to sell" was your best effort so far IMHO
) but you seem to call a spade a spade. I seem to get itchy feet from time to time and even though I'm having the best drives of my whole ownership at the mo in that tt, I can't help thinking I'd like to get something really special to get out highdays and holidays and get on the racetrack with too. Something I can keep for a long long time and that'll keep me entertained and challenged.
The test drive will show me for sure, but so far on paper the GT2 seems to scratch most of the itches...
Your mate has a GT2, right? Have you driven it? What can you report? Does it feel like a GT3 with torque (don't let's start the GT3/torque debate again please!)? Or is it a harder ride, full of rattles and crashes on bumps.
Can you go get your shopping in one?

the 993 gt2 is so expensive as so few were built worldwide
i cant say exactly how much a 996 'two will be worth in five years time, but i very much doubt they will go into free fall like the tt and all other 996 models simply because of supply and demand. with only 1000 or so examples in the country (and none of them tips) i doubt the prices will ever dip below £45-50k
