Does anyone really know when Porsche will start deliveries of 911s with the DSG 7 speed autobox? I have a 997 C2S that I will seek to replace in Summer 08 and I wonder if I can get one at about that time?0 At the moment the dealers I have spoken to are in total denial about the replacement of the tiptronic with the dsg box (quote - 100% no - it's not happening)

My local OPC gave me the same story (100% not happening).

However, rumour has it that PDK (Porsche's version of DSG) will appear on the 997TT first (potentially on 997GT2) and then be available on the facelift 997 thereafter - no idea of the timing.

It's fairly certain that PDK will happen soon given that the Tip system is so crap. Also, Porsche has filed patent applications last year for their version of the DSG so they are definitely developing it. There were some pictures floating around on another Porsche forum recently that also showed a test mule 997C2S with a paddle shift being driven around Germany.

I saw a new RUF RT12 recently and that had paddle shift.

Anyone know what 'box is in the RT12. Or is it just a modification to the existing Tip box?

Given that the 997TT Tip Auto has a faster 0-60 time than the manual, should we expect the DSG to be faster or slower?

DSG/PDK is a definite.

However, its original launch was delayed for technical reasons and it is likely to be seen in 2008, although may be at this year's Frankfurt show.

Tiptronic may well continue, despite being past its sell by date, as it is very popular in the US.

BTW, DSG won't be cheap.

They're going to offer 3 options?

Faster

That will depend upon the ratios (IIRC the 997TT tip is faster as there is a shorter gear in there somewhere). If it is indeed 7 cogs and they are spaced so that an extra shift is needed before 60 comes up, possibly not - though it is likely to get to 160 rather quicker
