Just wanted to know what the general concensus was on these. I'm thinking of getting one but am interested to know if it impedes on your foot when using the clutch. I really like the look of them but am slightly bothered that because of my size I may rub my knees and feet on them.

Any input?

Was thinking of getting one for my Mini, have seen them fitted and they look nice. However you do need to have smallish feet as you will scrape the side of the console if you have plates of meat like mine (I have been golf club shaped for a long time now hehe). And there is nowhere to rest your foot.

I used to have one in my Mini (when it belonged to my brother), and I could drive it no problems (6'4", 18 stone, size 12 feet) in fact it was roomier than my Mum's BINI Cooper S!

I have now removed it, as it is easier without the centre console, but if I was using it a lot, I't have the centre console for the conveninet storage!!!

If you replaced the sides with 6mm aluminium check-plate it'd both look cool and resist rubbing....

Yep thats what i ended up doing on my old 30.

Problem with them I've found is that even with the aluminium skirts (which stops you rubbing away the material which i can only presume is cardboard) it makes the footwell start to feel very cramped , personally i had to remove mine.

Also 6 years ago i paid a not so bad price at bingley hall (I think thats the show i got it from) but fast forward to MITP 06 i seem to remember their prices had gone up quite a bit!

I would say make your own if you like them, i was 17 at the time and couldnt be bothered with the hassle but its 60 odd quid that could of been spent else where...

However they're very good for hiding the fact the
heater is packing up and leaking everywhere..
also that the weld you made last week is now useless and is still letting water in from the seal...

I've had one for years in mine. Got it shortly after they became popular aftermarket accessories as it seemed a good idea at the time. They're OK but do impede the foot a little although you get used to it.

I will be taking mine out soon as the side is now a mess. My advice - don't bother.

I copied the patten and made one for my old cooper. I'm lucky to know someone who owns a metal works company so had my side pannels made, the drivers side was moulded inwards so it gave room for my feet.

From the front it looked the same, you could do this by using fiber glass or just leaving a cut-out on the side pannel?
