Pitting on split rims
Discussion
Rats, just spent a good two hours attacking my rims with autosol, I now have very shiny rims but unfortunately with a fair bit of corrosion pitting still showing like a bad case of chicken pox. Any suggestions as to what I can do DIY-wise? I was wondering about getting a small polishing kit for my mini-crap drill to give me a bit more power on them, or is this just a case of autosol not being a course enough polish and I might as well get the rims professionally refurbed? That'd be a bit annoying as the centres are absolutely fine.
Cheers,
Rob

If Solvol isn't abrasive enough to get the pits out then you can use wet or dry paper. Not knowing how bad the pits are, would suggest starting with 600 grade used wet, or maybe 400 grade if really bad. Then keep using progressively finer grades (600 to 800 to 1000 to 1200, all used wet) and finish of with Solvol for that mirror finish.
