Goodwood Festival of Speed Camping
Discussion
We are going down on Saturday afternoon to enjoy the drive in hopefully the sunshine, roof off (well the roof will be off no doubt unless it is pouring with rain!) and staying in a B&B about 20 minutes away. As for camping (are you sure?!) then maybe try the Goodwood web site for links and info www.goodwood.com. Good luck
Better make that www.goodwood.co.uk !!!!
We tried to camp on site last year but were too late to get a place, but I reckon if we had put the tents in the motor we may have got away with it. It took us 1.5 hours to get out of the carpark last year, so camping looks attractive.

After paying £32 for tickets and about £50 quid on petrol I cant afford to pay for hotels or B & B's!
The past two years I rang the campsite who said they were full but had one spot, right in the centre of the site under a lampost! Got that spot both years as I am too disorganised to book early!
I got out the car park OK but it took an age to get up to the M25, literally stop/start all the way to the motorway. Last year there was a massive Radio 1 festival at Brighton at the same time which did not help things!

There are sites at Chichester and up the road at Graffham (nr. Petworth.)
I'll dig my book out as stayed on one about five miles east of Goodwwod a couple of years ago.

Yeah, every year I leave it too late! If you could let me know the name of the site 5 miles east it would be most appriciated

We're staying at the Emsworth travelodge. Best value ticket is, robably, the weekend one.
I found that saturday / sunday are pretty similar so I have always prefered to buy the Sunday ticket and spend Saturday doing the driving and camping. Some will tell you that Sunday is too busy - I would disagree, yeah, it might be more busy but it is never so busy it becomes annoying/uncomfortable. Personally I would spend the extra dosh on a grandstand ticket, this gaurantees you a viewing point all day.

Right -have been out toi the m*t*rh*me for the 'book.'
The site is at Slindon. 01243 814387. No toilet or shower facilities though.....But that wasn't a prob 4 me!!
Pub with excellent restaurant in the village.

Cheers, no toilet could be a problem, my tent does not include one!
sod camping, when i did security at goodwood in '98.it was nice on the thursday for the auction, overcast on the friday and p*ssed down during qualifying on the saturday and for the running on the sunday.by the end of saturday it was bad enough having to pull out all the stuck cars because of the numpty morons in range rovers who tore all the grass up and turned the vip carpark into a mud bath.on the sunday you couldnt move for all the stuck cars.
im going to be staying with a mate of mine in selsey, there are plenty of b+b's around chichester/bognor/felpham etc and fixed site caravan parks in the area(saves getting sopping wet and freezing cold!!)
DEFINATLY TAKE A PAIR OF WELLIES WITH YOU AND WATCH OUT FOR SUSSEX PLOD WAITING FOR YOU AS YOU COME DOWN THE 285!!!!(ONE OF MY ALL-TIME FAVOURITE STRETCHES OF ROAD.....WHEN THE NUMPTY'S AINT ABOUT!)

Cortinaman;
too late!
just booked my place in Yapton for camping. Only £14 for three people, bargin! I have been 3 years now and the weather has held up so I am going to take the risk again.
With regards to the cops, cheers for the hint. Overtook a transit last year and kept my foot down. Hit 90 ish and a copper stood out infront of me about 300metres down the road
Tuned out he was only crossing the road to put a diversion sign up, phew!
Are you going this year?
