There I was sitting in my car in sainsbury's car park whilst my other half was getting some shopping, pulled up in front of an s2000 and watched the owner get in, was going to talk to them but when I saw it was a girl owner I thought better of it . ( I used to own one)

Anyway she drives off and my mrs returns. I drive out of car park very slowly past some police. Next thing I know they pull out and with 20 yards have all the lights going. So I pull over totally confident as I have done nothing wrong, car is 100 pct legal (spent 2 grand this week on it including tyres ). As I pull in I notice I have no belt on

Copper get out '' are you exempt from wearing a seat belt sir'' (smug tt).
Anyway I explain but he writes me a ticket out anyway, no points though which I was relieved about. 30 quid though. Thing is I always use my seat belt I just made one mistake and it was a pure accident on my part. I bet if a been in a different car or was an oap they would have just gave me a warning

The copper that was with him looked embarassed his tt of a mate booked me.

bloody tosser

Apparently I just need to send a 30 quid cheque off as all my details including insurance are fine . I could have told him that

Could common sense not have prevailed - i.e. let off with a warning???

I can go one better booked for a red light £60 + 3 points, been driving for 40 years and hand on heart have never jumped a light. Thought of going to court, could hear the court saying why would a police man lie, so saved my self the trouble and paid. But it is not forgot plod, one day you will want my help, and guess what. furious

and so it begins,
why are you complaining you broke the law etc etc

which of course he'd be right to point out

I on the other hand, never get pulled over since....
I never break the law,

I havent been pulled for over 20 years but that has nothing to do with what laws I do or do not break its to do with luck and circumstance. However if and when I get caught doing something I know is illegal, thats life.

Of course he broke the law. However, don't agree that you need to get punished. A warning is often more effective, or indeed you know yourself you made a mistake.

Next you guys will be saying that it is right and fitting that we get fleeced by road cameras for speeding!!

The way he came over and said am i exempt from wearing a set belt, thats why he's a tosser. He could have just gave me warning, I drove 10 yards without my belt on . No wonder everyone hates them.

30 quid doesnt bother me , but the way he came across was pathetic.

stupid thing is I have spent the whole day driving like an oap, just shows driving slow doesnt pay. Also my seat belt light must have been on but I never noticed it as I never got a chance to look at the dash board as I was pulled over so quick. Would be better to have a noise sensor too .

Joking apart I do think it a bit steep, but just think about the pleasure you have given the small minded little jobs worth.

A stupid sarcastic comment and then a cash extraction is not the best way to treat the public for so minor a misdemenour, when something like a simple "...oi, you've forgotten to put your belt on..." would have left a much better impression and no doubt some respect for the forces of law and order.
