New GT3 Arrived - Panic Stations !!
Discussion
Having been previously advised of a weeks delay in the car build until 14th March (originally 7th), I was advised yesterday of delivery to local OPC next Tuesday. This was welcome news and fitted back in pretty much with the original estimated delivery date.
Well phone rang today - your car has just arrived !!
Ten minutes later I was there to see for myself, and was advised I could have the car on Saturday, or earlier if I really wanted it.
Didn't take long to decide on that one, so mad panic to get insurance etc organised now !!
Just did the Driving Experience yesterday so timing couldn't really be much better.
Think I've attached a quick pic, - couldn't really decide on black or white !!

Congrats Anglebox. I was in past T&C today and saw it in the flesh, it was just going on the ramps for the PDI, looks very nice. My turbo arrived on the same delivery as your own so it was in good company. I look forward to hearing your reports. Enjoy your Sat collection I hope this snow disappears for you.

Bobcat, must admit I thought we'd be safe from the snow end of March !!
Anyway hoping for Friday all going well, but as you probably saw a lot of cars just arrived so will see what happens. Best of luck with your Turbo as well, will see if I can sneak a look at it tomorrow when I drop off the insurance cert.
Not wanting to start another run-in debate, but the guy on the 'Porsche Experience' said they rev their GT3's to 8000rpm quite early on, just make sure they don't labour the engine in the beginning.
As you say Geneve a bit of common sense is probably the best approach.
Angelbox/bobcat........b'strds the pair of you!
Seriously though, nice metal - I look forward to seeing you around the NE - will keep an eye out for you.
Angelbox I see from your profile your an offshore bod like me, Where do you work?/Who do you work for?...must pay better than Talisman!

There is no running in period, just a bit of common sense.
The engines definitely aren't bench run in, just bench tested, the GT3 engines are no different to other 997's in this respect. There has been a number of posts suggesting that they are fully bedded in on the bench, this is not the case.
Clearly with modern manufacturing tolerances being far better than old we can all be fairly flexible, but the engine will need respect on its own & even more when meshing with new clutch/gearbox/transmission.
The hand book actually states 1800 miles to bed in the new components & to not maintain continuous high engine speeds/loads or enter into track/racing events & this is where the temptation comes in! As you know this engine crys out to be revved & the car continuously tempts you to use its full potential!
Angel, I for one have gradually increased the load & revs as the miles increase, whilst varying engine speed as much as possible in order to best bed everything in, of course we all have to peek at the cars full potential now & again
