I arranged some temporary insurance yesterday to cover me for a courtesy car I'm picking up from OPC Guildford tomorrow.

Nurburgring Nordschliefe was specifically mentioned as not covered by the policy.

Underwrite your car with a German Insurance Company.

German Federal Law stipulates that they must provide coverage of the 'Ring on any public day.

No UK road insurance covers you at the ring.
Getting specific ring cover is not a problem but the quotes I have seem a little high as its for my GT3 im looking for alturnatives from anyone who has any experiance.

AFAIK there was a UK registered RS covered on a NU road policy that got binned there last year which claimed and was repaired no quibbles. As long as your policy does not specifically exclude the 'Ring...

Not true.

I know of someone who wrote off his 360CS there last year, was completely honest about it all and got paid out in full. He was on a UK limited mileage road policy with no mention of the Nurburgring and no specific track day cover.

Although I agree that a lot of policies either exclude it by name, or argue it's a track if you come to make a claim and let it be known exactly where you were.
